If you all didn't know this already, I want to be a dancer. Here is a cute video showing one of the dances I want to do. My favorie---the jitterbug.

I like the Jitterbug very much. Do you know something about the story of this dance? It's fun and stylish at the same time. Smile

Vanesa.

As most of you know I'm a Shirley Temple fan and in the 90s I got on a quest to collect her entire movie collection and now have them all. grinsmiley
I first saw the Jitterbug in one of her movies: "Miss Annie Rooney"

I love that movie.

This is what I want to do! Annie
It was Shirley Temple's first screen kiss with Dickie Moore

I was mesmerized at the house party scene when all the kids were doing the jitterbug! They looked like they were having the time of their lives! lol

Here is a review from Amazon Thumbsup
This movie is a pleasant little comedy. Shirley Temple is cute as a teen jitterbug queen who hangs with the young hep cats and solid senders of 1942. There is hilariously lame slang, lots of jitterbug dancing, a memorable jalopy, and a plot loosely (very loosely) based on Pygmalion, which Annie Rooney is reading and admiring in the opening scene. Fun for those who are Temple fans and/or are fond of Andy Rooney type movies.

*Now I feel like finding my copy and watching it! Laughing

I sure do!

In the mid 1930's, a bouncy and cheerful dance as named the Jitterbug by the band leader
Cab Calloway when he introduced a song in
1934 called "JITTERBUG." The Jitterbug consisted of a few standardized steps of twirls, splits, somersaults, and it also had difficult lifts, when the male partner would lift up the female partner and swing them around on their backs.

Thanks for the explanation, Julia! I loved the Jitterbug in your video...and I also likes Shirley temple movies very much, but I didn't watch most of her teenager stuff....I think I should watch "Miss Annie Rooney"...and watch her dancing the Jitterbug. Definitly! Thumbsup
