Somehow I ended up as only 41% Yankee (barely into Yankee territory). I guess living in New England all my life hasn't affected me too much. LOL!

The thing I don't get is that almost all my answers were "common to the Great Lakes area," yet I'm still only a 44% Yankee. Hmm.

It's The Andy Griffith Show influence, Rob. All of those reruns have affected your Yankee status.

Somehow, Rob, I knew we'd score similarly! I'm 40% Yankee! Wink (Hey, did you say 'Devil's Night' for the Halloween one? I didn't know it was ONLY a Michigan thing! OhMy ) Oh, and mine were almost all 'common to the great lakes' answers too. Hmm.....

I bet you're right. I hadn't thought of that. Once you've said "You beat everything, you know that?" a few hundred times, a little bit of Dixie starts creeping into your soul. :shifty:

Absolutely! And I had no idea it was only a Michigan saying either. Well, it's mostly a Detroit thing, I suppose. In case anyone's wondering, the people of Detroit used to "celebrate" the night before Halloween by setting fire to (mostly) abandoned buildings. There would literally be hundreds of fires. Those merry pranksters!

I don't think it's nearly as bad now though, is it, Amy?

Me too Rob!

And this is what I got: 39% (Yankee). A definitive Yankee.

Maybe the lower you score on the test makes you more of Yankee, and the higher, more Dixie????

I said "Devil's Night" too. And I thought that was the common term everywhere.

Living right outside Detroit, as I do, it's not as bad as it was before. Nowadays they call it "Angel's Night" in Detroit and volunteerns patrol the streets all night looking for fires, or people who look suspicious. They also have an early curfew for that night as well. Fires are actually lower on that night than any typical night since they started the Angel's Night patrols.
