| A worker at the Smithsonian Institution discovered what are believed to be the only color photos taken of the aftermath of the San Francisco Earthquake in 1906. Clicking on the picture at left will take you to a gallery with four of the 1906 photos. The third one seems to be digitally cut in half... or something. Still cool, though. | Rob, you are a genius! I loved the pics and the article. Both interesting. I imagine what an amazing thing these photos must have been for people back then. Photos were not new, but certainly were in papers and reviews, where they were used with a journalistic purpose. Photos were used in magazines and journals from 1890's, but most of the graphical material from them were artistic drawings...so imagine how they must have appreciated these pics from San Francisco Earthquake.
