I feel sad and bad for people who have no home or food. Today when i was at the library.Afther I went to the story to get a drink of pop. & lady outside asking people for money. She had a sign saying she was homless.

Sometimes i wounder if i give money they real use for food? or do they use or beer or drugs? I didn't give cuz i didn't have any change. I don't have much money my self. I feel bad tho i feel maybe i should have gave.

do you give money to them?

I've never actually done that...

We do have quite a few homeless in our state capital...

It has been my experience that it is better to give them food or clothes than money...

It specially breaks my heart when they have pets. I always buy something for the person AND the dog as well.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if it's a homeless person, or a person who has made it their job to appear homeless by throwing on some old tattered clothing and adding a little dirt in all the right places. For example, there is always the same man who stands at the end of a highway ramp, appearing homeless, with a sign that says "hungry", or something like that. My uncle was driving to the hospital all week to visit his wife, and saw this man every time. One time my uncle went later in the day and saw this man getting into what appeared to be his Cadillac Escalade (he was getting in to drive, and he was alone). It seems he made it his job to profit off of good-hearted people.

Another time, I had an experience where some guy gave me some kind of hard luck sob story, and I gave him a dollar. He said he needed gas or something, and then I saw him inside the store I was at making a purchase at the liquor counter.

So, I am definitely weary of giving people money. We have a local guy who you see going through trash cans for empty bottles to return for a deposit, and if I have some in my car, I will give them to him. I do give clothing donations to shelters, because at least the right people are getting the help.

These days if I encounter someone who is trying to ask for money, I tell them I don't carry cash. Which many people don't these days with debit cards and such.

I do have a friend who encounters a homeless man with a dog regularly, and she will give him food from her lunch, and keep dog bones in the car to give him.

I believe in buying them the food or clothes myself. One time we were in Oklahoma and two men said they needed some money to buy food. We instead of giving them the money bought them food and they scarfed it down. It was a all you can eat buffet too and they took some food out with them. On the other hand one time this man said he needed money for toothpastes, brush, etc. We bought him those things and didn't seem to thrilled. I believe he wanted the money for other purposes.

I give money to them all the same. I don't mind what they will do with it. I must do it for simple charity. If this person choices to ruin his/her life with drugs this is not my affair. I help people without condition.

We have some homeless in my city, since it's big and lot of people is going thourough economical troubles because the current world crisis. I rather try to help them if I can. My conscience wouldn't let me sleep if I let them die of hunger. No

One time this Homeless person came to me (I was Three hours away from) Wanted a Little money so i wanted to give her 5 dollars but then she said she wanted 10 so she could have a meal so i gaved her 10 it was on Parking lot of a Resturant so she went into the resturant stayed maybe 5 mins then came back outside with out any food then went to the next person begging for money

In Most cases not in all but Most people that become homeless they Choose to Become homeless if people are willing to work hard they will find a Job somewhere and there is always the Foodbank (Foodstamps) They just become homeless cause of poor judgement for them selfs
