Yes. One thing I wasn't clear on (well, I'm sure there are many )... does the same player bowl for his team all through the match (as long as he's doing well), or is the team required to switch bowlers?

No; a bowler can only bowl 1 over at a time from one end, and then another from the other end. In limited overs matches a bowler can only bowl so many overs. E.g. in a Twenty20 match(each innings is 20 overs) a bowler can only bowl a maximum of 4 overs.

But test matches where each innings is unlimited, yes a bowler can bowl an unlimited number of overs.(But then he gets puffed LOL) And then each bowler bowls different styles often; some might be spin bowlers, others fast bowlers, or others may be good at swinging the ball from left to right through the air.
