At 9:00 AM on 11/9/2011 wherever you are, could you please pause for a minute in remembrance of the approximate 3,000 victims of 9/11.

Thank you.

RIP.

Is it 11/9/2011 or 9/11/2011? Your post confuses me....here in the States, it is written as 9-11, so just asking.

The USA is doing lots of things that keeps this in the front of our minds.......and this event is very painful to many on this forum since they live with the remembrance of this every day.....could it possibly be posted the night before the actual date???? scratchead .......posting 3 days before gets confusing....Blue

Many of the papers have been running articles about local people lost that day. The Today Show has been featuring stories too. It's definitely a day I won't forget. I was glued to the TV for a week.

This is the most powerful 9/11 video I have seen. 10 years later, this event in history still seems almost unfathomable to me. No

There was a fireman on 9-11, who was clearly told 'not to let anyone take anything from Ground Zero no matter what'. A little boy showed up a little while later, crying, because his Dad was in one of the towers when it went down, and wanted a rock from the rubble to remember his Dad. Despite his instructions, the firefighter let the little boy take something.

Touching.

Aw, that is very touching. Smile

My twin nieces' birthday was today. What a day to have a 'celebration', you know? Blue I am amazed by all the beautiful tributes all across the country though, and hopefully across the world. It's unreal to think of 115 nations suffering loss from this tragedy.

Those pictures brought tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat. No I'm sure yesterday brought much closure to friends and families, but at the same time, resufaced up a lot of repressed emotion for a lot of people as well. I'm sure it was helpful for many, as part of the healing proccess. My second cousin died in the second tower. He was only 28, and had just started out in Manhattan, a great job at the World Trade Center, and a newlywed. I didn't know him....I'm the youngest of 48 grandchildren, so I have cousins and 2nd cousins all over the world I don't know. But I hurt for my aunt and uncle---I'm sure yesterday was very tough for them.

They mentioned that Station 10, the fire station that responded first, is right across the street from where the towers were at. They said while most people deal with the loss maybe one month a year (a few weeks before and a few weeks after 9/11) the men at Station 10 deal with it every day, as tourists and other people stop by there to talk to them and ask questions......they can NEVER get away from the memories, the pain, nor the loss of their co-workers and friends....How sad is that? Most people can get a break, they can't. No

There is an elderly couple that live in town here. Their son was killed that day. They interviewed them a day before 9/11/2011 asking them if they were going watch or take part in any ceremony or tribute going around town. The wife was the main one who spoke and said that they were not going to participate, that it was a time when they, he specially, would rather be alone and reflect. She said it's still too hard for him to watch all this stuff. They recently moved to a new house where they put a fountain in front as a tribute to their son. There is a plaque with his picture and the towers in the fountain.
