Danielle is a wonderful actress, and this will be a great movie. I read the book a few yrs ago. I have 23 books written by Beverly Lewis. She is by far the best author when it comes to writting about the Amish. I can already tell you this movie will be in my collection real soon. Can't wait to see it!!

Ooh, I can't wait. I love Beverly Lewis's books. I agree, Gin, she is definitely the best author for Amish stories.

Probably not....although its been some years since I've read the book. I was hoping Michael Landon Jr. would be directing these. =(

I think I remember him taking the guitar away from her but not smashing it. Anyone remember?

Just watched The Shunning and think this is Michael Jr.'s best yet. Very well done, makes me want to read the book again. Now to get this on dvd!
One flaw I noticed was that they show the amish men wearing wedding bands. In real life the Amish do not exchange rings during their wedding ceremonies.

No I don't Jacob. But as soon as I know I will tell you. Honestly though I don't plan to get it til after Christmas. It always goes down cheap right after Christmas. I've waited many a dvd out to get them at just the right price. Makes me feel better for the spending.

I noticed the wedding rings, too, and thought that was odd. Also they wore there different ways instead of all having the same haircut.

I watched this about a month ago. I enjoyed it more than I thought at I would. I loved the books, but I was afraid that this movie would turn out like Saving Sarah Cain. I thought they did a much better job making this book into a movie.
Supposedly they're contemplating making the second book into a movie- which to me is a good idea. Why just make a movie to just one book in a series?

Bought the dvd last night. While a few things have been changed from the original story, it is a good movie. Looking forward to the next movie. I've just reread all of the books.
