It happened here, Central time between midnight and 2 am.....we had an overcast sky of clouds and I knew I wouldn't be seeing anything......I wish I could've seen it though because the unique thing about this eclipse was, it happened on the winter solstice and won't happen again until December 21, 2094...... thud

I knew about it, but we were too overcast to see anything. Otherwise I'd have set my alarm and watched it!

During the late afternoon of Oct. 23, 2014, a partial solar eclipse will be visible from much of North America before sundown. Partial eclipses occur when the moon blocks part of the sun from view. The clouds have finally cleared, am hoping to be able to watch this....SAFELY of course!

Very cool!  Looks like we North Americans are going to miss out on that one, though.

But look at this, Rhonda!  On Aug. 21, 2017 you're going to be smack dab in the path of a total eclipse!  And if you miss that one, there'll be another one for you on April 8, 2024.  The 2024 one will be the closest I'll come to a total eclipse in my lifetime, and I plan to travel a couple hundred miles to see it... God willing.  Smile
