part "Titanic" miniseries begins airing. It is a joint UK-Canada production, by the creator of "Downton Abbey".

A positive review

A mixed though overall positive review
http://www.ottawacitizen.com/entertainm ... story.html

Julian Fellowes has criticised James Cameron's hit movie Titanic

Interview with Actor, refuting comparisons with Downton Abbey, saying it's not "Downton at Sea"

Airing in Canada:
Global TV will show Titanic in four weekly instalments, culminating on Wednesday, April 11, four days before the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking. It's probably better seen in consecutive, back-to-back instalments — Cameron's film ran more than three hours, after all — but that's the way they've chosen to show it.

Airing in US:
ABC in the U.S. will show Titanic in two parts, the first three hours on April 14, with the concluding hour on April 15, the actual anniversary.

Yeah. My older sister saw it with her friends. At the theater. This lady in front of her & her friends. This lady, jump up spilling popcorn all over herself & the people next to her. It's the part when Lex fall through the vent. She's holding on dear life. Until Dr. Grant pulls her up. The raptor almost got her.

Heather, (older sister) was telling my parents & I, go see it. I was 10, when I saw Jurassic Park at the theaters. We didn't see it, like 2 or 3 days later. I think, that year of 93 or the following year of 94. The Detroit zoo had Jurassic Park event.

The theater we go now. They have old movie posters. Jurassic Park is one of them.

Ah, yes. How could we forget that one! Yikes Or the guy being eaten off the toilet? LOL! I remember Brendan was only about 4 when this came out, and my hubby wanted to take him to it. Um, no. A tad too violent for a child that young, lol! But Brendan was my dinosaur nut so Bill really wanted to share it with him. We had a store in the mall called "Natural Wonders" back then, which had every dinosaur under the sun, and Bren would walk in there and freak the workers out. At age 4, he'd pick up the most obscure dinosaur and name it, "Apatosaurus". "Demetrisauras". "Ankylosauras". (And yes, I'm in shock that those have stuck with me over the years. HeeHee...although, don't get me on the spelling, fife. Wink ). But yeah, once Brendan was allowed to watch Jurassic, he was MORE than ready! Laughing Remember Jurassic 3 though? Gosh, was that awful. We saw it in the theater and everyone looked at each other like, "Is that it? Is that the end?" It was literally 'cut' because they ran out of money! Yikes

Ha! I didn't see Jurassic 3, and I guess I shouldn't bother.

Just like Brendan, I was a total dinosaur nut when I was little. Although when I was a lad, they weren't extinct yet.

Laughing Rob. No

And nope, definitely don't bother! I'm sorry I did! Yikes

I was just thinking though, of just how monumental Jurassic Park 1 was. Bill & I saw it in the theater, and literally, we'd never seen ANYthing like that before. Or HEARD anything like that before. You know? Remember you'd hear a 'thud' (in surround sound---that was new in the theaters then too), and you'd see the water in the glass shake? It was SO scary!! And just the magnitude of the dinosaurs.

Nowadays every movie has these special effects and nothing is a big deal anymore. (Think Tranformers Yikes ). Kids today don't even realize what it 'used' to be like.

Wow, now who's sounding old???? Whistle Ooops

But nevertheless, I'll be recording this! It's a must-see. yes

This is on PBS tonight:

Saving the Titanic, premiering Sunday, April 1, tells the untold story of the self-sacrifice and bravery of the ship’s engineers, stokers and firemen in the face of impending death. Starring an ensemble cast featuring David Wilmot (The Guard, The Tudors and Intermission) and Ciaran McMenamin (Sinking of the Laconia, David Copperfield and Primeval), Saving the Titanic seeks to answer the question of what happened in the engine and boiler rooms after the ship’s fateful collision with a North Atlantic iceberg. Based on eyewitness accounts, this is the remarkable story of nine men from the engineering crew who fought courageously to hold back the power of the sea and keep the power systems running, even when they learned that all was lost.
