LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dick Clark, the ever-youthful television host and tireless entrepreneur who helped bring rock `n' roll into the mainstream on "American Bandstand," and later produced and hosted a vast range of programming from game shows to the year-end countdown from Times Square on "New Year's Rockin' Eve," has died. He was 82.

Spokesman Paul Shefrin said Clark had a heart attack Wednesday morning at St. John's hospital in Santa Monica, where he had gone the day before for an outpatient procedure.

Clark had continued performing even after he suffered a stroke in 2004 that affected his ability to speak and walk.

I was saddened to hear about this. It was easy to forget his age when you saw him. NYE won't be the same.

Wow, what an icon he was. Did anyone else watch American Bandstand? I sure did! Hard to believe his stroke happened as far back as 2004! I was thinking it was just a few years ago. My, how time flies. May he rest in peace.

Awww, just heard that one of the "Crystals" on the New Year's ball in Times Square, has Dick Clark's name etched on it. This will be the first year without the "Forever Teenager" there to help ring in the New Year. At the end of 2013 the crystal will be presented to his wife to keep... bawling Love
