I just watched this on the news and balled my eyes out. I can only imagine the terror his owner and the other by standers felt. Thank God for fire fighters. They do so much more than just fight fires. Glad Sam was rescued! My question is why in the world were there steps going into the river?

I wondered the same thing, Beckie! scratchead That whole thing seemed SO dangerous! I can't really figure out why the owner would let him off his leash either. But live and learn I guess! I am so happy they are reunited too. loveheart

They need to get them blocked off before someone else goes down them and possibly drowns.

Yes, hopefully they'll use this as a learning experience and get that closed off, because I can see a little kid doing the same thing, if not watched closely enough.

Speaking of heartwarming dog stories, we have our own local one. A 12 week old puppy was found neglected, and our animal control offered a $300 reward for any tip leading to the capture of the person responsible. Well, someone did call in and they caught the person. And just when you think all humanity is lost, the person who called in the tip refused the reward...they said to use that money toward any costs needed to rehabilitate the puppy. How cool is that?! Love
