By the by, she works at Home Depot, so I'm having her get one of those upside-down tomato plants they got. Only problem I have is, my home has a small yard, and faces north-south. I can't get a full day's sun on anything. But that would be cool having tomatoes growing in your house.

I've got a Topsy-Turvy planter with a patio tomato in it on the back deck, Larry. I tried it last year, but didn't get it planted early enough. So I had tons of blossoms, but no 'maters.

Happy Memorial Day weekend to all of my American Prairie friends. We had our holiday last weekend, Victoria Day. I know how much I enjoyed a 3 day weekend so I'm hoping that all of you enjoy yours too.
God bless, stay safe.

Same here. Ange wants me to take the truck and pull up some bushes so she can plant some flowers, and I want tomatoes. Then, a couple sirloins off the grill (3 minutes on each side; medium rare), some twice-baked taters, and assorted other accoutrements.

When you're done pulling up you're bushes could you take a quick drive in your truck over here and pull out ours? We've been wanting to get that done for awhile. I'll be more than happy to cook up your steaks for you. grinsmiley

Hey, if you try those tomato plants let me know how they work for you. I don't have the biggest yard, so not a whole lot of room for planting.

Yes I did! Thumbsup

It was a really neat trip. It took me 2 1/2 hours to get there. The drive up there was real nice, not heavy at all like L.A. You just have to get used to seeing land, land and more land! lol The scenery is nice, as you see mountains, cows crazing, other animals...

Then you start to see the Paso Robles many different Wineries, where there are places you can stop and do some free wine tasting. LOTS of people bike ride around here, from kids to 80 year olds! ...

And then.... Hwy 1, the famous Pacific Coast Highway

I know it sounds cheesey, lol, but as I first saw the ocean, we saw deep in the ocean a whale or dolphin... not sure, we think it was a whale because of the big splash... but it was so beautiful! So we made the stop at the first vista point and began taking pictures lol

Here is a photo album from Facebook of the pics taken picture

Memorial Weekend is the kick off of summer vacations... but it's not all beer & BBQ's (altho a lot of beer & charcoal has been sold) Remember the day... and those that gave it all... and thank a veteran and those currently serving..... it matters.

Hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend. It's been a busy one for us so far. Last night was my son's Memorial band concert at the high school, and today was his parade downtown. We also celebrated Memorial weekend by going to Greenfield Village in Detroit again---one of my favorite places! (Obviously HeeHee ). This is their big kick-off weekend, with civil war reenactments and lots of neat things. Fun! Thumbsup

PostSubject: Memorial Day weekend in Greenfield Village   Sun May 27, 2012 3:29 pm

I went with some friends to Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan yesterday, for their big Civil War event. It is probably the biggest event they put on....very well done. I thought you all might enjoy looking through some of my pics. So, here we go! Applause

The Wright Brothers' front porch:

A camp...

A room in the Eagle Tavern:

A view across the meadow of the Town Hall:

The Dodworth Saxhorn band playing at the Town Hall. All instruments are from 1840-1880! What an incredible sound!

I will be back with more....

The re-enactors actually stay in the village the entire weekend, living as close as possible to what Civil War life would have been:
