Ernest's Lifetime achievement award, just last year!
This is really cool. Gosh, who knew Ernie was spending retirement behind a 40 foot motor home/bus?! This is a cute interview...there's actually a whole series that his son compiled. There's also one where he takes you on a tour of his 'bus'.

I don't think that man can do anything but smile. He just has one of those faces that has a smile "set" in it. I loved him in The Lord is my Shepherd. Amy...I agree...he will always be Jonathan. Melissa must be a little sad tonight. That was her favorite episode.
It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. Not a lack of churches or religious forms but of the real thing in our hearts. LIW.....Words From a Fearless Heart

I was thinking that too, Gin....it has to have affected her in a special way. And yes, I loved Ernest's smile and his laugh...he seemed like a very 'warm' person. I remember when he used to call in to QVC during his wife Tova's beauty shows and talk to her on air. It was so cute! I think the QVC people were either touched or annnoyed by it, one or the other!

Oh, me too! That movie was so intense...my dad talks about it from time to time to this day, because it's one of those movies that never lets you up at all from the suspense.

Thanks for posting Spanky, I've updated his profile. I just did him on the sticky in the last several weeks. He had a great deal of respect for Michael and attended his funeral. What a contribution he made to Hollywood. Really a nice guy! No reason to be sad, he lived a great life and was working right up until the end doing what he loved to do.

Melissa Gilbert said this on a soundbite: I have lost a dear and long time friend. He was the personification of integrity. He was brilliantly talented but, most of all, kind.

I am off today and there happened to be an old episode of Murder She Wrote (does that take me back) and Ernest Borgnine was in it along with Jerry Orbach from Law and Order fame. He could take small roles and make them large, he just loved to act.

Oh, how ironic!

He certainly took "Jonathan" to a whole other level. I can't even imagine anyone else in that role.
I read an article where his family stated that he had been in excellent health until a recent illness. Sadly, that is usually how it happens when people are so up in age. It's nice to know that he didn't suffer long though, and that he'd been able to enjoy his life up until the end.
