THROWBACK THURSDAY

Hey gang!

Thought we should have a Throwback Thursday thread here. What is throwback Thursday? Well, each Thursday you can post a picture FROM YOUR PAST.
It could be a picture of you, of your friends, family AND/OR places you have lived or visited.


I'll start today by posting an old photo of Visalia, CA. This is the town where I work at.... a couple years ago

Here is me with my 6th grade class picture at Yorkdale Elementary School in Highland Park, CA.
I am in the last row (yes, I was in the tall category back then! lol), number 8, from right to left

This is the "Arrowhead" on the side of the mountain that I could see from my home when I lived in San Bernardino, CA. On a clear day, it was a beautiful sight to see!

Very cool, Rhonda! I love seeing pictures of the same thing taken many years apart. And that's an interesting history of the Arrowhead.

Here's a picture I took at our county fair in the summer of 1978. It was right at twilight.

This is my old high school. The city built a new one a few years ago and now uses the old one for offices.

My brother, my cousin and I all had Mrs. Mandeville as our 2nd grade teacher.


Here is my brother (2nd row, third from the left, red shirt). Behind is the building where we would get our deeeelicious food, specially Tuesdays and Fridays. Tuesdays we got hamburgers, tater tots, apple sauce and chocolate milk - good stuff... and Fridays we got Pizza


The picture below is a recent pic from Google which shows where that picture above was taken. It also shows the 1st and 2nd grade classes, Mrs. Mandeville's class was the building at the far right.

What is really cool though is that we are in touch with 2 of the teachers from Yorkdale. Mrs. Mandeville (now Gittings) and Mrs. Cariffe (now Smith) through the Yorkdale Elementary School Page in Facebook!

There I mention that I remember a cup. You see, Mrs. Cariffe loved drinking water and she would send us students to go outside (we had a water fountain right outside the class) to fill her cup with water. It was a huge cup and she put ice on it afterwards... so Claudia said she remembered her huge cup of water filled to the brim with ice.

The pic below shows you exactly where that water fountain was. Do you see a small white bar towards the back, near the bathroom door? Well, our class was right across that... now you can imagine me as a 10 year old... filling her cup with water in that spot lol

Those local Facebook pages are great. That photo I posted is from my town's page.



And when it was posted there, a woman said that those three girls at lower left are her and two of her friends, walking to another friend's house just around the corner, as they did nearly every day after school. I love how that random moment was captured purely by accident!

Here I am with my family (Mom, cousin, grandma, cousin and brother) at Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.



One of the attractions there was La Bufadora.
La Bufadora is a marine geyser or blowhole located on the Punta Banda Peninsula in Baja California, Mexico. The spout of sea water is the result of air, trapped in a sea cave, exploding upwards. Air is forced into the cave by wave action and is released when the water recedes. This interaction not only creates the spout, but a thunderous noise as well. The phenomena repeats every minute or so with its volume depending on the strength of the waves. La Bufadora is the one of the largest blowholes in North America, often shooting upwards more than 100 ft above sea level. The exhibit hall roof top is approximately 24 metres (80 ft) above sea level and the blowhole frequently sprays above it.

Left to right are: Dad, me, Momma, a close friend of the family, My Grandmother, my Aunt, & my Grandfather. (My cousin Abby was in the photo but her attire left a lot more to be desired...like more attire! Haha! I just cropped her out.)
