| Yes; Iv'e read the Bender's story written by Laura in "The Little House Sampler" . It was in a spech that Laura gave in Detroit, in 1937, when speaking about her writing , explaining that in her children books she told the truth, but not the whole truth, and that she left a lot of stories out of her "Little House books", because they were not suitable for children. This story always sacred me a little, because Laura made clear that Benders might be killed, and that perhaps Pa himself was one of the men who killed them... Vanesa | |

| Little Slaughterhouse On The Prairie, leave it to the Daily Mail for that headline. Story reminds me of Sweeney Todd, minus the cannibalism of course. | |

| Although the Benders existed, my understanding is that Laura was telling a "porkie" in Detroit.
Apparently the Benders were long gone by the time the Ingalls family were in the area. It was either that, or the Ingalls had moved on before the Benders became an issue.
