Now this year the church is using a t.V for each weeks lesson and music now.So the teachers don't need to do it.You know i think it's cool but at the same time.Somtime ppl are good at teaching the lessons the old fashion way. Then they have the parents sign in and out the children on laptops. No more paper. Then now they have the 4 and 5 year olds in with the 2& 3 year olds/ Yikes Does your church do this?

I'm not to keen on this idea.

I'm not sure how our church teaches Sunday school now (my boys are all grown up), but I would have to say that Sunday schools in general shouldn't rely on a video lesson. I just remember back in my catechism days that I would completely zone out whenever they put a religious video on. Yikes I was bored out of my mind. I'm sure today's video lessons are much better than anything I had growing up, but still. I have to figure that an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher would be more welcome by a class any day. Smile

Hmm, that's too bad. Well hopefully after a couple of weeks the teachers will figure out that it's just not working. Sure, it's easier for them not to have to prepare a lesson, but if the kids aren't going to get anything out of it, what's the point?

Yeah, kids see TV all the time. It's much more engaging to have someone tell them stories right there in front of them. I've never seen videos like that do a decent job of keeping the attention of children.

And once again, I agree with Amy. (Big surprise.

Yeah,Maybe soon enough everyone will get used to the idea. I think it works for the older kids.Just the younger ones don't have enough attention spam to sit so long. So i guess the teachers are just at the end going answer kids questions.

Well, don't be too sure. Whistle I was probably 9 or 10 when I was subjected to that stuff and I'm sure my catechism teachers thought I was really into it. I was so polite that I wouldn't have wanted them to think that they were boring me, so I probably put on my 'Oh, this is so interesting' face. grinsmiley

Good idea. And that is certainly true about the little ones not being able to sit through anything for long! Gotta keep 'em motivated! Thumbsup I think it's great that you're volunteering to do this, Krissy! yes

Oh, and I completely agree Krissy....2's and 3's should not be in with the 4's and 5's. BIG difference.

I come up with my own lessons each week, but I've been doing it for 20 years now.

I don't go to church. So, I don't know, any churches here in Michigan does this. When, I was in Sunday School. I always like to hear the story from the bible Some Sunday School services. Would use those felt characters on the felt board. I love doing bible projects. Take them home, show it to my parents.

Yeah, it seems that the Sunday School teachers are lazy.

i think it's not that they are lazy to teach the class. It was the head person who runs the sunday school who descided to do the video thingy. The sunday school keeps changing.I miss the old way it was before.I think it worked better. The reason they stuck the 4 and 5 year olds in with the 2 and 3 year olds is cause they don't have enough help.
