Tumblr?

What the heck is this? What is it used for?

I notice a lot of people on my XFiles board post things like pictures/videos from Tumblr. I think it's starting to pick up speed.

I've noticed it, but I don't know what exactly it is supposed to be. For me, it's just a blog or something similar to it...

Tumblr can be a good thing, let me tell you a story.....
The singer and guitarist from a band that I adore, 'Off With Their Heads' recently underwent throat surgery. He found himself overwhelmed with debt because of the hospital bills and opened up a Tumblr account with a heartfelt plea for help. You could donate any amount and he would send you something in return, he said. Well I donated $10, thinking 'what comes around, goes around'.
In less than two days, his bills were paid with the donations!!
I received a hand written thank you note with a pin he had printed up.
There is alot of ugly in this world but I try to focus on the good that this unique life gives us.

By the way, do not search for the band 'Off With Their Heads'. I can guarantee that you will not like them.

That is amazing Joe! Neat that people responded with donations, and great that he thanked people in his own way.

I think Tumblr is the most addictive thing ever! Yes, I DO have a Tumblr account and NOT a Facebook or Twitter account.


Yes, I was talked into joining this one. Someone was actually able to accomplish that with me. I was curious more than anything else. I don't really do any "real" blogging. I hardly ever write or post anything original. But I go crazy reblogging things on there. Yeah, I don't really see any point to the site but to blog and reblog all of a person's obsessions in one place.


I was on another site awhile ago where I did actually have a blog. But that was more or less just for the members to read. It wasn't a public one. I got bored with it, though, and quit writing in it.

My daughter did it for a while, had photos she liked, tagged from others, etc. but it was too addictive, kept wasting time there..like anything, you have to know yourself and how you will use it. She felt compelled when she had followers and feedback to keep checking in.

I have seen some wonderful photos and quotes from Tumblr, but many times they are tagged from another site initially.

That is the exact addiction that I am talking about. So, you have an idea of what I am talking about!

But I have actually avoided it for the past few days. So that is a big accomplishment for me!
