Watch this interview and learn of the plans for the Wilder property in Mansfield. They are trying to turn it back the way it was when the Wilders lived there.
Enjoy.

I've always wondered why they didn't keep the Rocky Ridge Home in its original state from the get go. When I have visited there, I always thought the bookstore and museum needed to be elsewhere, it is right in the big middle of everything. Now, they can get it back to where it needs to be; just hope they make the barn look like something Almanzo would've built and not some modern day barn..... scratchead

I agree. The house on the inside is how Laura left it, but the outside looks a bit too modern. I love the thought of having things for children to do. They have so much land to do so much with. It needs to be a place families can spend all day there and not see everything.
Wouldn't it be neat to have Little Houses available to rent for a few nights?!!!

The farm house is the same as Almanzo and Laura left it....Almanzo had added onto it over the years, that is why is looks more modern. They are wanting to add the log cabin back in that Laura and Almanzo started out in, add the barn, the chicken coop and a garden, probably some apple orchards as well.....when they placed the book store and museum between the rock house and the farm house, that is where they over stepped it...... Yikes

Thumbsup Yes, if you watch the full video, they show the plans they have drawn out and where things will be. A nice HUGE book store, museum and archive building....oh, and a cafe in the book store, because people like to have a sandwich....as she says... HeeHee

You are welcome, Amy, but Marilyn posted it first; it just happened to come on TV the other day and reminded me of this thread, so I bumped it up......I really hope to get to Mansfield soon to see all the improvements....  Thumbsup
