A Simple Act of Kindness Empty
PostSubject: A Simple Act of Kindness   A Simple Act of Kindness EmptySat May 11, 2013 11:39 am

I felt compelled to share a little something that happened to me yesterday, it reminded me what a simple act of kindness can do for this world of ours.

I've been retired for three years now, but still work about eighteen hours a week in a local jewelry store. It keeps me busy and in touch with a business that I spent over forty years in.

With Mother's Day coming, it was fairly busy yesterday. A young man approached me yesterday afternoon, in search of a Mother's Day gift for his Mom. He was about 25 years old, nice looking kid with scrubs on. He was on his lunch break from a local hospital that he works in.

When he first spoke, it was obvious that he had a severe stuttering problem. Almost to the point of having turrets syndrome. It took an hour and a half, but we finally found a pendant for his mom. Sometimes, he couldn't speak for a minute or so, but we both got through it.

When I finished gift wrapping his mother's gift, and handed him the bag, he looked at me with a huge smile and stuck his hand out to shake my hand. He looked me straight into my eyes and said;

"Thanks for being so patient with me, most people aren't."

I thought about what he said for the rest of the day.

What really ran through my mind is the question of how anyone could not be patient with him because of his physical affliction. And secondly, how could I ever complain about my little problems in life. And being the age I am, I wondered what heartache his blessed mother had gone through because of his problems.

I guess the point I am making is that if we all got up every morning, determined to do one little act of kindness, it would have a real impact on the world.

I want to wish all you Moms out there a Happy Mother's Day. Without you, the world would be nothing!

"Albert, do you REALLY think you are old enough to know what love is?"
"I must be Pa. I love you, I have for a long time."
