Thank you Amy & Savannah!

This is a painting called: Autumn on Mackinac Island by Thomas Kinkade. Seeing Amy's pic, reminded me of this painting. :)

Life is filled with quiet surprises. One such delight can be found in an autumn weekend on Mackinac Island, that charming retreat from modern living nestled in the sparkling waters between Lakes Michigan and Huron. The only way to reach Mackinac Island is aboard ferry, and once you've arrived, the only modes of transport are walking, bicycles, and romantic horse-drawn carriages. No automobiles or motorcycles disturb the enchanting timelessness.

In autumn, crisp beds of red geraniums highlight the lush greenery, while the heady aroma of chocolate fudge blankets the island. The array of charming Victorian homes and hotels, crowned by the magnificent Grand Hotel transports us into centuries past. The nostalgic mood is further underscored by musket fire echoing from the restored Ft. Mackinac.

In Autumn on Mackinac Island, carriages clatter down the enchanting lane while bicycles weave languidly to and fro. Nan's Fudge Shop (a tribute to my wife's famous fudge recipe) invites us to sample the island's chief product, while the Grand Hotel peeks proudly from behind the autumn foliage of the trees at the left of the lane. The steeple of the famous Little Stone Church rises above the trees at the right of the composition and geraniums festoon the town with patches of red.

Now, with Autumn on Mackinac Island, you can enjoy the season of plenty in this charming, nostalgic haven all year 'round. — Thomas Kinkade

It is EXACTLY almost 1 year from the time I posted the first set of Autumn pictures back in November 19, 2008. Today is November 18, 2009 and here are some of the Autumn pictures I have taken so far.

I love this time of year!

Beautiful pictures, Carol. I love the palm tree pictures, too.

Spring is finally here, the lovely pink blooms on the "spray" tree outside my window are gone leaving a beautiful willow.

How many of you are looking forward to Autumn?! I know I sure am! Nothing like the cool crisp breezes and air of Autumn and the excitement building because of the coming holidays! Leaves

Yes! I would love summer more if it just didn't get so doggone humid over here.Ranting  If it was just hot, it would be fine.

We got off pretty easily with the humidity this summer. We only had one long stretch of humid weather in July. Otherwise, it was quite mild. I loved it!

Oh that sounds so nice. *sigh* I wish we had that down here in Georgia. I honestly don't remember it being this humid over here until about 2010 unless I just didn't pay attention. scratchead

I don't think I noticed the humidity very much when I was younger either. Oh, it was only 29 degrees here this morning!

My goodness. It was real hot this summer. Not as hot as last maybe, but the humidity helps it. It has been in the 80's this week, but there is a cool breeze in the air which makes it nice.

It sure does. I like to walk 3-5 miles a day and the breeze makes it so much easier and nice. A couple times this summer I nearly passed out from the heat! thud

Summer came and went while I was at the hospital and nursing facility with Mom - so it feels like we should just be starting summer to me. HeeHee But autumn is so beautiful, and such an amazing season...I'm looking forward to the grand finale that it gives us each year!
