I was just wondering, how many of you are Soap fans? If you'e a guy, don't be embarrassed to answer this question...
Anyway, I currently watch 2 of them...and they're also my favorite current shows: General Hospital & Young & the Restless. I've been watching GH since '81 (I was only 11) thanks to Rick Springfield! Of course, that was the best time to watch, at the height of the Luke & Laura days. I've been loyal to that show ever since, and the show is fantastic again (they went through some bad times...lol).
I've been watching Y&R since '96 and I really enjoy it. Some storylines are unbelievable (but then again, it IS a soap)...but they're very entertaining! I wish Jennifer Landon wasn't leaving there...I really liked her as "Heather." I'm also sad about Genie Francis leaving...but happy at the same time...because maybe, just maybe, she can return to GH (where she belongs, IMO).
Classic nighttime soaps I used to watch: Dynasty (adored that!), Dallas (up until it was discovered that Bobby "dying" was only Pam's dream. OMG, I totally stopped watching!). I do like the new 'Dallas" from TNT though, and looking forward to it coming back in January. Then of course there was Melrose Place (trashy, I know!), Beverly Hills, 90210 (and now, for some reason, I like the new '90210'). I have no idea why...but for some reason, I can't stop watching! lol I am now currently enjoying ABC's new show "Nashville." I also loved "Desperate Housewives" (I miss it!).
I'm done babbling! So what soaps do you enjoy (or did you enjoy in the past)?

That's cool, Carol! I know a lot of these thanks to my grandma...God rest her Soul. When I was a kid, I used to watch Spanish Soaps/Telenovelas with her. I miss those days! I saw so many of them...but for some reason, the one I remember the most is "Los Ricos Tambien Lloran" (The Rich also Cry) with Veronica Castro. But I saw a lot of them with her! She used to love her telenovelas, particularly the Mexican ones.

Oh my goodness, I loved Veronica Castro in the 80s lol. My mom watched that one. My favorite one with her was Rosa Salvaje. I watched it twice! First time as a kid in the 80s and the 2nd time in my late 20s when it came out again. The 2nd time I saw it, I viewed it differently of course lol

I'm sure if I saw any of those Spanish Soaps, I would view them differently too. I was only a kid. Actually, the last time I saw a Spanish Soap with my grandma was in the 90's. It was with Yuri & Chayanne, "Volver a Empezar." (Starting Over). The acting on the Spanish Telenovelas is definitely a LOT more intense...that's for sure!
I remember when Ricky Martin was on GH!

I watch The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. I watched As The World Turns before it got cancelled. I liked the original Dallas. I missed the pilot for the new Dallas. I will get it when season 1 comes out on DVD. I have watched Y&R since the early 80's and B&B since it first came on in 1987.

Yeah, I think Mills played a witch. As for me, eons ago I watched Days of our Live (Pete & Melissa) then later I switched over to As the World Turns (Holden & Lilly) and Guiding Light (Phillip & Beth). I watched the latter two until they went off the air. I also watched one of the ones Robin Wright Penn was on. Sunset Beach I think it was. I don't watch any now.

Do any of you watch 'General Hospital?' That show has been on fire lately! It's awesome now, especially with all the vets coming back for the 50th anniversary! Genie Francis just came back too.

I used to watch Days of Our Lives when I was a teenager. I was really into it because the stars would come here once a year & sign autographs but they quit doing that years ago.

I cant get into Days as much as I once was. I used to tape it everyday. The storylines are boring now in my opinion and a lot of the good characters are gone

All I can say is that I am hooked on "La Patrona" (The Boss)
I'm a big fan of the 2 ladies that appear in that pic (Christian Bach & Aracely (in the middle) who I met about 14 years ago)
This is the trailer for it:

I used to tape it everyday too, I watched it mainly around the time that Marlena was possessed by the devil I used to fast forward that entire storyline!
Krissy my best friend got me into watching it, she was really into this storyline where someone buried this other woman alive, I can't remember now but that's how I got into it

lol that would be Vivian Alamain had Carly Manning buried alive. Then ole Viv got a taste of her own poison later in the same way
I got big time into it some years back when there was a stalker in town and some of the cast members were killed (so we thought) and were all held captive on a island somewhere

For those who watch Y&R...are you as sickened by the current storyline as I am? Part of me wants to stop watching, but of course I can't! LOL All I have to say is one word: SHARON! I used to like her character...and when she had little breakdowns, I would try to give her character the benefit of the doubt. But this? This is DESPECABLE (sp?).
