I was surprised that he was 78. I thought he was much younger than that.

I first saw him when I very young, teens, he opened for Sonny and Cher. : ) He was so funny and "clean". I liked that about him, he was like Jerry Seinfeld in a way, made fun of everyday things, airplane trips, shopping, etc.
I remember not long after, hearing Eddie Murphy and thinking, "You don't need to swear every 5 minutes" to be funny. To each his own, but I enjoyed Mr. Brenner when I heard him.

I saw him open for Barry Manilow in Las Vegas in the eighties and he was brilliant! And he didn't say one curse word. I just read on the net :

In David's final request he asked that one hundred dollars in small bills be placed in his left sock “just in case tipping is recommended where I'm going,” according to a statement issued by his agent. “His final resting spot will read “If this is supposed to be a joke – then I don't get it!”

David, you were great!

RIP

"Albert, do you REALLY think you are old enough to know what love is?"
"I must be Pa. I love you, I have for a long time."
