I didn't know Goldie Hawn could sing at all either.

I'm a lover of Mamma Mia but honestly didn't care much for Meryl's voice, but gosh, I will NEVER as long as I live forget the feeling I got while watching THIS scene in the theater.  It was beyond powerful.  I have never seen anyone 'act' out a song the way she did this.  There is no one like Meryl Streep and she is something very special.

She starts singing around the 30 second mark.  It amps up aroun 3:00 minutes, and 3:50 basically kills me.  Remember how huge Mamma Mia was?  That's because many people saw it over and over again.  And I read that a lot of people went again just to see this scene again, and regain that 'feeling' from this song.

I didn't like Mamma Mia movie.

Wow! That was fabulous, but do you think Pierce Brosnan felt ridiculous standing there for over 4 minutes with nothing to do but stare and touch his face?   

Oh gosh, yes!   It seems so awkward!  But, that said, EVERY scene with Pierce in that movie was awkward!   He was laughable, truly laughable.  In fact, I saw this in the theater with my parents, and my dad and I completely embarrassed my mom because we kept laughing at Pierce.  (And no, they weren't meant to be funny scenes  ).  But darn it, we couldn't help it!  He was just THAT bad!!!

I don't know if he still is, but Brosnan used to be a real pompous jerk. I couldn't stomach interviews with him.

Rob, my girls were big ABBA fans when they were toddlers. I think they called them the ladies, and we have a DVD of hit songs that they would dance to. It was funny. Fernando was one of their favorites.

ABBA was my first album ever....I was a huge fan of that group. My son Nick went through a stage when he really loved the group too, Cheryl! Of course he'd never admit to this now. 

Wow, I remember that Dave!!  How cool, thanks for sharing it!  Everyone is SO young...just wild to see.  Young Richard Gere, Young Kevin Costner, etc...so neat. I wonder why this stuff isn't done anymore?

I wanted to see if I could name all the singers. There were some in the background I didn't recognize, but of the ones who sang lead, the only ones I couldn't name are at 1:02, 2:11, and 3:05... though I think that last one might be Kim Carnes.

Cyndi Lauper's voice kills me in this one.

And yep, 3:05 is Kim Carnes.


Gosh this bring back great memories.  This was so HUGE...honestly 'kids/youth' today will never fully understand how HUGE this really was. This was part of history.  So cool. (and this was bigger than the other one...the other one I think I've only seen once.  We are the World' simply took on a life all its own.  ).

Oh my gosh, too funny Cheryl---we both came on about the same time!   It took me a minute with Al Jarreau, but it hit me.

I LOVE Cyndi Lauper in this.  Can you even imagine this song without HER in it????


I just watched that twice....I feel all wound up and emotional after watching that, lol! I forgot the power and emotion not only that song evoked, but the legends that sang it. WOW.  

I can't imagine her not in it, but she's not my favorite.

I'd forgotten Dan Akroyd was in this.   He was definitely 'the unexpected' in that group!
