Yeah, I wasn't as impressed, overall, with RWL's writing style. I haven't collected her books, because I didn't really care for them. BUT, I buy them at used book stores (UBSs grinsmiley ) and yard sales, because I know that there are others who do want them.

(And, quite honestly, I wouldn't pay $3.00 to read one. Whistle But, that's just me. )

Rose definitely was a good descriptive writer although not necessarily a rated G one. grinsmiley But... real life isn't always rated G is it?

Rose has grown on me a bit in the last year. She WAS Laura's daughter and I love Laura so I can't help but love Rose, too; especially after reading the Rose years. Rose was her own person and couldn't pretend to be anyone else. I admire that in anyone. Some folks are just a bit rough around the edges but they're still God's beautiful creation!

I admire that, too. Thumbsup I just don't care for her writing.
And......I've found that life is just too short for me to sit through a book that I don't enjoy. Even if it's Laura-related. To each his own. Cool There are so many fabulous books out there, and so many things to learn.......I don't want to waste precious time wading through something that I'm only doing perfunctorily, or because of the author's relatives. grinsmiley

I guess I should add that I've picked the book back up later. I have to be in the right mood for the right book. Same with movies!

I just didn't like Rose's style of writing. Like it was mentioned, to each their own though.

That's an awesome list Susie. If you ever see The World Of Little House, I highly recommend it. It's my favourite. I love the floor plans that they have drawn of each little house, makes it easy to imagine what they all looked like. Each one has beds of patchwork quilts that were lovingly stitched to keep family members warm.
