I don't know how many of you have ever watched this show. It was a
series that sort of spun off the Kevin Sullivan movie Anne of Green
Gables. It was on for 6 seasons and was filmed in Toronto. The child
star of the show was Sarah Polley who just made her directing debut in
Away From Her in the theatres recently.
Anyway, I went in to the coffee shop this morning to talk to the owner
about going back to work for a bit over the summer. He wasn't there
so I left my number with the supervisors who definately see that he
gets it. I was waiting while my dad talked to an old friend and Mag
Ruffman walked by. I was stunned. Huh? She played Aunt Olivia King. (In Anne of Green Gables she played Alice Lawson, lady who worked in the General Store who sold the puffed sleeves dress to Matthew) I
had met her before at the last restaurant that I worked at. I think
she lives in the area. She wished me luck at getting the job back.
She is so sweet. It was awesome. I wish I had my camera with me.bawling

That's so nice, Marilyn! I'm glad for you. Olivia Dale was one of my favorite characters on Avonlea.

Did you ever see her PBS show? I only saw it on once in our area. I don't know if she still does it. I didn't recognize her at first. It was an interesting show. It was kind of a home improvement show for women, and she made a hope chest in the episode I saw. She was very funny. It was funny seeing her with power tools.

Lori, Mags did have a home improvement show called A Repair To Remember. I caught a few episodes, she was so good on that show too. She is always so happy and smiling and made funny jokes as she was trying to do her work. It was good.
I realized im bed last night that I had my camera phone in the car when I ran in to Tim's for a coffee. AAAAHHHHHH!!! How dumb I am! I don't use the phone much, just for emergencies and the camera even less. How I wish I could go back and relive yesterday!!

Marilyn, I'm almost embarrassed to say I didn't know who she was until you mentioned the puffed sleeves lady...LOL!!! That was awesome that you bumped into her again. I bet you were really cool about it...not stuttering or anything...something I would've done...LOL!!!

In Canada we have baked goods from a company called Vachon. One of the pastries is called a Flaky. Years ago before RTA first started Mags did a commercial for Vachon Flakys. She played this really annoying woman who was complaining about everything under the sun. Her voice was whiny and ugh!, awful to listen to. I hated that commercial!!! When RTA began the commercial was on it's last legs. I was watching the show once and the commercial came on during the show. My heart stopped. I absolutely love Olivia King and here was dear Mags acting as this crabby woman. After figuring out who she was, I loved the commercial because it make me laugh instead of cringe.
Each time I see Mag, I bring up this commercial. Yesterday she told me that I am probably the only fan who remembers that commercial. That's good for me because now she'll remember ME!
