Hey! I forgot to say I also have the "Little House" songbook. A friend of mine plays her guitar and I uses to sing from it time to time. These songs are really sweet. They have the ancient flavor of a gone time.

Is "My Only Love" in the Little House songbook? Probably not. Laura would have ripped it out.

laugh3 Hahaha...No; it's not there. But the book is not filled with songs from the TV Show. It's filled with songs from the books. I've always wondered why the show didn't aires some of the songs you can read in the book. The only one you are able to listen there is "Old Dan Tucker". Huh?

I agree, Vanesa. It would have been nice if the show had used some of the songs from the books.

I only saw the Songbook once. Is it still available?

I don't own that cookbook (I've always wanted to get my hands on it, though). I own the Laura Ingalls Wilder cookbook. I also own the paper dolls and the guidebook.

I don't have the "Laura Ingalls Wilder Cookbook" and I suppose it must be better than "Little House cookbok". Is it a good book? Maybe I should order it, but I don't know if it have lots of recipes that could be the same than the "Little House cookbook". Did someone read it and the other one just t make a little comparison between the two? eat

I think it is. It's been years since I got it from the library so I don't know what the title is, but I bet it is the same one.

Vanesa.

I actually don't really remember what is in the "Little House Cookbook". If I am correct, it contains recipes from the time of Laura's life on the prairie, right?

The "Laura Ingalls Wilder Cookbook" contains recipes that Laura actually owned. I think it is definitely worth it if you can find it at a reasonable price. I believe it is out-of-print now. So some people like to charge a little more than necessary for it.

Personally, I think it is worth Laura's Gingerbread recipe alone. Her Gingerbread is fantastic. And it is kind of a thrill to be making something from one of her actual recipes. Smile

Thanks for the info! "Little House Cookbook" is a good bok, since it has recipes that are mentioned in Laura's books. The author also explains the historical background of every recipe she presents there and how to cook them "authentically", this is without adding modern, processed prducts to them. I like this, for you can appreciate how things were made back then and how much people must WORK to make them. The author of the book is Barbara Walker.

The book you speaks about must be great, since we are able to know what Laura REALLY liked to cook...and what Laura really liked t EAT. Smile

Vanesa.

Thanks for the info! I think that might be the next cookbook I get then (I am a cookbook junkie Smile ).

Here is a link to Laura's cookbook:

I forgot. The complete title is actually "Laura Ingalls Wilder Country Cookbook". Smile I don't think the omission of that one word matters, but maybe in your search for it, you might need to include it. Smile

Wow, you are selling me on this book! I'm going to see if my library has it, or if they can get it in. You're right, it would be a neat thing to be able to make Laura's very own recipes!! Applause

A friend of mine visited the Laura Ingalls Wilder sites last summer, and while I was visiting her today, she loaned me her new Laura Ingalls Wilder Country Cookbook, that "Miss Oleson" so highly recommended. WOW. This is one amazing book. Although there ARE pictures of foods, there are more pictures of artifacts and memorabilia of Laura's than anything else, and lots of 'home' pictures, which I love. The photography is exquisite. Each page is made with slick 'coated' paper---perfect for a cookbook that may need to be wiped down from time to time. This 'reads' like a REAL book, not a cookbook....tons and tons of Laura info and her own household hints in here...it's going to take me quite awhile to get through it, and I'm going to hate giving this back to my friend!

I just had to share....I highly recommend it---the recipes are totally doable; most are quite simple. I can't wait to try some! And the best thing is, I saw the "Rocky Ridge Farm" pricetag on the back was only $14.95....worth every penny, and it's nice to see that they don't 'gouge' in that store. They certainly could get more $$, with all the fans that come through there. My only wish is that this was hardcover.
