I have a co-worker that I would like you all to remember in prayer please.  Celeste is 22, and had a car accident about a month ago.  It wasn't too bad, but bad enough that she required a CAT scan right after.  The results came back with no injuries, but it did show a spot on her thyroid.  She saw a doctor who did another scan and found 3 more spots.  She is undergoing surgery to remove her thyroid on Wednesday ( 3/ 5)  and will later find out if the spots were cancer.   Its such a mixed blessing that this accident happened when it did.
She is very positive, but needs our prayers.   I will let you know how things go asap.  Thanks!

Wow, I hate to hear that they have to remove her entire thyroid.  My mom had 3/4 of hers removed and was never the same for the next 40 years.  She was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and there is a very good chance there is a link between that and her Alzheimers and Parkinsons.  My mom had nodules on what remained of her thyroid (about 2 years ago) and we found out that they are almost always benign, so I am very surprised that they can't just do a biopsy on this 22 year old without taking her entire thyroid out.  She should seriously get another opinion.

I assumed they are removing her thyroid, but maybe they are just removing the area? I do hope I am wrong if its that much trouble for her later. I will find out as soon as I can. Keep praying, I know she is a little anxious.

Maybe that's it Gin, I do hope so. But it's not unheard of...a lot of doctors are big on removing them without a lot of thought for future repercussions. Just hate to see such a young girl having to deal with this. I am praying for her.

Prayers going up now, Gin. Though an accident is never a good thing, I wonder how long this would have gone undiscovered if she didn't have that CAT scan.

Celeste is doing well and already home. NO CANCER! She is in a lot of pain, but she said she will take that on without complaint as long as she knows this was not cancer. Pray for healing now. Thanks!

That's wonderful news, Gin! Were they just able to do a biopsy without removing anything?

Not too sure Teresa. I am going to ask another co-worker tonight. I am thinking they are sending off whatever they removed to be sure but she was told no cancer.

Celeste will be back at work this week. They did JUST removed the affected area. She will be on thyroid med. but otherwise everything looks real good. I have totally missed her at work. Some people are just the one to make a day go smooth whatever you have to face. Celeste is THAT person. Thanks again for the prayers on her behalf. She is SO thankful!
