Not sure who has seen this already, but I thought it was well done. It is LIKE the original version, but does have some changes. Will Smith did a great job in directing this in a very creative way. His son Jaden did a great job, and he looks so much like Will. This kid will have a great future in film no doubt.

I know.
I want to see this movie, because I'm a W. Smith fan and his son is cute and has talent as well! So does his daughter. Here is a video I found of Jaden doing a music video with... who else... Justin Bieber lol

I like when he said "I was raised by the power of will... no pun intended" lol and "I was born from two stars so the moon is where I land"
I think he will go far.

Wow, I'm impressed. I really loved this movie too, and I certainly wasn't expecting to. You're right Gin, it was VERY well done, and creatively directed too. There are great shots of China, and I love all the cultural stuff too. It was a great message as well. You know who I was most surprised by? Jakie Chan! He can actually really ACT! I have seen his comedic timing and he's pretty good, but his dramatic scenes were excellent too. Love his facial expressions with the comedy too. This movie really has all the elements: action, comedy, drama---and Jaden Smith is a force to be reckoned with! Kinda neat how you can just see and hear his dad in him.

Wow, can you imagine living in THAT?!
Well, I just don't know enough about this kid to say one way or the other. I only can judge on his acting ability. I don't know if he's 'full of himself', or just 'confident', but his confidence no doubt was what enabled him to perform the character as well as he did. Not every child actor could play all those emotions....I found him endearing. But of course, no one can argue that he wouldn't have been in the role if not for his dad, but that's "the biz" for ya.

I'm a BIG fan of the original movie, so I've been trying to decide whether or not to rent this when it's available. I have to admit, I am curious. It was nice to read your comments on it too, it sounds like you all liked it. Maybe I will give it a try!

The original Karate Kid movies (all three) are in a package deal for $13 at a Wal-mart near you.
I think I will get this new one too.....my stategy in buying is to wait until after Christmas and it will be marked down to $13 then $9 by mid summer. (W-mart) It's all about patience.
