some bad news

Today seems to be the day for bad news. This afternoon, I found out my mother's best friend, who is like another mother to me and I have known almost all my life, will have to have surgery this week. She had a pace maker put in several years ago but in the last few months she's been just feeling sick. At what should have been a routine check-up, the doctor discovered a problem with the pacemaker. It might be able to be fixed by changing one wire, but if that doesn't solve the problem, she will have to go to a bigger hospital out of town and have more surgery, and possibly a new one put in. She's very scared and also sad b/c this is happening to her right by the Easter holiday, which she loves. Then this evening, my father found out that someone he used to work with has skin cancer and is going into the hospital this week for surgery too. I'm praying for both of them, I'm just so sad for them and their families especially now around Easter. It seems like neither of them has ever caught a break and always has difficult things to deal with. If you could include them in your prayers, that all goes well and they are able to heal from this, I would really appreciate it and I'm sure they would too. Thanks.

Christina, I am so sorry about your friends......I pray that they will find comfort in knowing that people are praying for them.

My middle boy took his best friend to a doctor's appointment and found that he has skin cancer as well......so sad to think that someone that young (19) can have this stuff........and being a guy, it's not like he was out tanning himself and got it that way...............I have said it before and I know I will say it again, "I HATE THIS DISEASE!" Ranting

Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. My mother's friend's surgery is over and she is recovering. They did have to replace the pacemaker, but thankfully, were able to do it at the hospital she was in. It turns out it was actually defective! I was so scared to hear that - thank God her doctor noticed a problem with it when he did. I still haven't heard any news on my father's friend, but I'm hoping I will be the end of the week. Thanks again for your well wishes.

Thank you :) My mother's friend came home today. She's very sore from the surgery, but other than that, she's doing well. I'm thankful they were able to take care of her so well and that she returned home so quickly, and she's glad to be home for the holiday. We may be bringing dessert over to their house this year, since she won't be up to cooking herself. As for my father's old co-worker, still no news there :( I'm hoping for the best, but since my father "heard it from someone who heard it from (the old co-worker)", I'm not sure how or when I will find out any more information on his condition :(
