Winter photos

Just a couple pics in the aftermath of the snowstorm.

My neighbor's backyard...



And a pair of evening visitors in my yard...

One of the deer is almost tame, Lily. I'll let Casey out, and it'll just stand there and watch her till she gets right to the fence (which you can see in the pic). Then it just ambles into the woods a little way and waits for her to go back in the house.

Oh, thanks, Maria! Wow, that was over six years ago. Lots of things have changed.

Nice pictures! I have seen deer in our neighborhood before, but never in my backyard. What is that hanging next to the woodpecker in the third picture?

It's a piece of netting with suet in it.  Their favorite thing.

Oh, ok! Yes, they love suet... so do the squirrels though. We actually have woodpeckers that like our Goldfinch feeder!

Do you have thistle seed in your finch feeder?

It's a wild finch mix with thistle, white and red millet, and sunflower chips.

That's a nice mix.

I was about to ask who is Casey.... and then while I posted you must have edited your post and added a "picture" of her.

Yeah, she was my golden retriever.  She died in November, 2009.  Savannah did that drawing of her for me. 

That is too bad... I love golden retrievers. That is a wonderful drawing Savannah!
