Ingalls' Family Photos

Vanesa, who used to visit quite often at the other forum and only a little bit here, is a history buff and she said that back in the 1800's, it took SO long for the camera to make your picture, you had to sit there for a very long, long time just for one photo. None of this point and click stuff. If they had started posing with a smile, their mouths probably would've been all dried out from holding the pose for so long....... :think:

Well, I think I have to agree with that...
In Zochert's LIW-biography is told, that Mary had to bear a lot of pain in her face as a result of the fever, which destroyed her eye-sight.
I'm not sure, but perhaps this nervous disorder plus the ongoing pain over years left it's marks in Mary's face.


On this photo, which shows Mary in the age of 16 together with Laura and Carrie after the "Long Winter", IMO Mary is very pretty...

I found this on pinetrest. I says its Laura Ingalls Wilder. I thought it looked like her, but I thought I had seen them all.
It said it was found on legendsofamerica.com. I checked the site out and all I saw was the photo of her when she was 18. What do you all think??

I've never seen this one and I have almost every book out there.

I would love to think there are more out there that we haven't seen....so maybe.

I don't know... something about her face just doesn't look correct. But I haven't seen as many photos of her as either of you have!

That doesn't look like her to me.

it does look like her a bit, but i don't know.
