Howard McNear, the actor who played Floyd on the show, passed away in 1969.

In the show's first season, Floyd was played by an actor named Walter Baldwin.

Oh, so that was after then show then.. I get it. Interesting, I didn't know that a different person played Floyd in season 1.

The guy in the picture with Betty Lynn wasn't on the show. He just plays the character of Floyd in the annual Mayberry Days convention.

And yes! He does! That's Allen Newsome. He's been playing Floyd for YEARS now, and has become close friends with a lot of the cast of The Andy Griffith Show over the years. There's a weekly podcast that he hosts, too, that's dedicated to the show.

Krissy, I just checked Wiki, and that Walter Baldwin guy only played Floyd in one episode during the first season.
