Recycled crafts

When I was at the fair last week, I walked through the 4-H building, looking at all of the projects that the kids had entered. Wow....they really put a lot of work into them! Every year, I'm so impressed by the effort that they put into their projects. Well, this year, they had a "Tin Man" that one of the 4-H groups had made. It was SO CUTE! I found the instructions online........but I have to say.....the ones that the kids in 4-H built were much cuter than the picture that's online! LOL! Here's a link if you want to see him:

I'm hoping to gather the things needed, and have all of my nieces and nephews over sometime this fall to make some of them.

Cool Savannah....now get some terra cotta pots and make the rest of the cast.....

Yes, and Toto too.....here is a recycled Toto from a toilet paper roll....his name is Totoilet!!!!

Savannah, in Richard Kelly's book The Andy Griffith Show, he quotes Don Knotts talking about this scene:

"I had sworn in Gomer and Floyd as deputies. Floyd was just standing there and he'd ask a question. I'd snap back, 'Did you get permission to speak?' He'd reply, 'No, sir." I'd walk over close and look at him - he would look at me as if with fear of this almighty deputy. Every time I looked at the man I cracked up. We must have shot that scene twenty times before I could do it without laughing. The more I laughed the more everybody else would, and then Andy would fall, and it was pandemonium for about two hours. We finally got a shot. Howard was a funny man."

:Hahaha: I can see why he'd have such a hard time.. . . Howard McNear was just so funny! The two of them together are so much fun to watch.

I had been looking for that book earlier this year, then forgot. I'll have to start looking again. It sounds like a book that an Andy Griffith Show fan would thoroughly enjoy.

Jim made me one this afternoon. Tomorrow we are putting the eyes and mouth on. I'll post a picture then.
