For anyone that has/had made plans to visit LIW's home in Mansfield...This was on the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum Facebook page and wanted to give it a post on its own since this is so important...


After careful consideration and review of the latest developments regarding the impact of the COVID-19 virus, we have made the decision to close the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum, effective on Sunday, March 22nd.

We will continually monitor this situation and, with the guidance of our local health officials, determine the proper time to reopen. While the Museum’s doors are closed, we will continue to add online content through our social media and find creative ways to engage our patrons.

How sad, but a necessary precaution.

Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum

After temporarily closing our doors on March 19 to protect the health and safety of visitors, staff, and volunteers, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum tentatively plans to reopen to the public on June 1, 2020. New safety measures will be implemented throughout the historic site, including 6 feet social distancing. All visitors will be asked to wear face masks, which will be made available for purchase inside of the Museum Gift Shop. The Museum gallery and historic properties will be capacity controlled and hand sanitizing stations will be positioned around Rocky Ridge Farm.

Thank you for your continued support of the Wilder Home and Museum during this unprecedented time. We hope that you will plan a visit to visit Mansfield in the near future.
