The Beatles once opened for him, and his hits included "Tutti Frutti" "Long Tall Sally" and "Good Golly, Miss Molly."
Little Richard, the high-pompadoured singer, songwriter and pianist whose explosive performances set early rock 'n' roll afire, died Saturday. He was 87.

Pastor Bill Minson, a close friend of the singer, confirmed his death to the Associated Press. Minson said he also spoke to the entertainer's son and brother and noted that the family is not releasing the cause of death.
