| I wouldn't thank you for the new editions. The illustrations by Garth Williams are missing and to me they help tell the story. They are a HUGE disappointment!! | |

| Yes they do... I thought it was them the first time I saw them.. but I think that´s what I don´t like about it... It´s like the books are eventually based on the tv series and not the other way around... | |

| I like the older version better. I think that the covers to the new editions are pretty, but I miss Garth's illustrations! | |

| Call me old fashioned, but I picked the old ones. I'm pretty sure that some day, when the new edition will be forgotten for a long time, the illustrations by Garth Williams will still becharm (not only) the children. They are just timeless. | |

| I'm quite a classical person too, so, Garth Williams drawings are wonderful for me.
Anyone knows if he is around, yet? I know his is a very elderly man and that he was very ill some two years ago...Is he alive?

| Wonder if we contacted Harper Collins, if they would put the illustrations back into the new versions? | |

| Probably not. I guess they were trying to appeal to new readers with the newer pictures. |

| I read that you can get the Garth Williams illustrations in some newer editions - but that it costs more. (I think it was a version that had four books in one volume) That was on a blog in England somewhere . . . .so, I don't know if it's true here in the States or not. But how rotten is that! | |

| That might be the set I have, Savannah. I paid like close to 50 bucks for it. |

Vanesa. Vanesa, here is a biography on Garth Williams....unfortunately, he died back in 1996. GARTH WILLIAMS Thank you, Rhonda! I didn't have the link. It seems that I was VEEEERYYY back in the news. Hahaha. Poor guy had left us longtime ago. But he lived a long, interesting life. And he will be always remembered. And when someone is remembered the way he is, he will never die among us. Vanesa. :cabn: | |
