Thankful

My 13 year old rode her bike to high school this morning to go to band. When she returned after band she was really upset. She said a pick up truck had hit her on the way to school. She said she had stopped because the truck was over the sidewalk, but he backed up and waved her across. Before she was all the way past him, he decided to go and hit her back tire which knocked her over. She and the bike are both fine (with the exception of a slight wobble to the back tire) but it really scared her. The truck just took off. I decided I should call the police to let them know about it. An officer came over and took her story. He said there would be a police car at the intersection tomorrow to see if they can find the guy. I'm very thankful she wasn't hurt.

No, the truck was the only vehicle at the intersection, and there weren't any other kids there at the time. She gave a decent description of the man and truck so hopefully they will find him tomorrow morning. He was probably leaving for work so the police plan to be at the intersection at the same time tomorrow to see if he shows up.

Oh Lori, I'm so glad your daughter wasn't hurt. What's the deal with waving her to go and then couldn't wait for your daughter to pass completely before he goes?! I really do hope the police will spot him today and please keep us posted.

I told Kara to look for police on her way to school today. She said she didn't see any so I wonder if they are going to look for this guy or not.

Maybe they figured the guy would be on the lookout for cops, considering what he did, so they sent an unmarked car?

Aww, that's horrible! I am glad she is ok. This one guy here in Pittsburgh went up on the sidewalk on purpose to hit a guy on his bike. The biker was in the street and got mad when the driver told him to get out of the street. But the biker moved out of the street anyway and they driver still hit him! Luckily he was not killed. He got dragged a couple feet by the car though!

I'm very angry of people who attacks kids going to school in this vicious way! I wish they could catch the guy, so he can't do it again! These people are plainly sick. These kind of things are happening more frequently nowadays!

We never heard anything back from the police, so I doubt they made any attempt to find the guy. Kara has never seen any police in the area since it happened. I knew when I called the police they probably would not find the guy, but I did think they could have a police car in the area just to make sure kids were getting to school safely.

They don't care, usually when you report certain things, they don't do anything.

The bad thing is that you feel that you are alone. Policemen are social servers and they doesn't act to protect people, when it is these same people who paids their salary. This is NOT fair. People is not safe in their own countries any more...Again:
