| This episode is beautiful. It shows how true love can come from simple things and not on materials things. I was very sad about the part where Laura cries her grief with her father and the fear she felt to go back to school is very understanding (I've been through something similar once). The end for me was the most wonderful part of the episode! | |

The end for me was the most wonderful part of the episode! Charles was always there to cheer up his girls. All fathers must be like him. Vanesa.

| It's funny how mrs olsen thinks her daughter is such an "angel". She's just so mean “Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it... Yet.” ― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables | |

| Oh yes, was Nellie so mean in this episode. She was such a bratty little girl and yet she turned out so well. I think this episode shows just how mean Nellie could really be. | |

| I think Nellie's role with the kids was pretty well set. Sometimes kids don't change roles because it is comfortable. I always felt Harriet perpetuated her behavior so she could feel more important, different than anyone else, telling her he was better, more refined, etc. I felt jealousy of what the other kids had vs what she really had with all her stuff, made her even meaner. Luckily love of the pig farmer and later Percival along with maturity, made her more lovable and funnier. | |

| I watched this tonight and thought it was well done. Does Jason ever show his face again?
I'm glad Nel's was strict, I"m not one for corporal punishment but nothing ever got through to Nellie, at least she knew she crossed a big line.
I've seen machines like that at auctions for 400-800.00 and much more.

| I like this episode. What Nellie did was wrong. Nels was right in getting mad at Nellie for her stunt. I'm surprised Mrs.Oleson didn't try to prevent him from taking a belt up to spank Nellie. | |

| I love the show and I know every show have to have bad people but Nellie & her mom annoy me to no end. On this episode Nels who is the weakest man ever, put his foot down during supper. When Nellie played that machine at school either Nellie or Ms.Beadle told Harriet and she had no intentions on telling Nels. If you notice when Charles came in she she tried to block him but Charles wasn't having it and shouts for Nels, Harriet's face was priceless. She knew what her evil daughter did and didn't have a problem with it so she attempted to make eye contact with Charles so he wouldn't tell but he didn't even look at her, then she tried to interrupt but Nels told her to be quiet every time she opened her mouth. Harriet did the exact same thing when she made Caroline quit teaching, same face and all.I know back then things were different but Harriet was overdue for a well-whipped behind for her mouth and attitude. I did something similar to someone when I was in elementary and my mom didn't play so when she found out all hell broke loose in our house. She told me that the next I had better come home with the girl's phone number, I did, she called and made me tell her mom what I said. The next day she showed up at my school with a moo-moo on, raggedy house slippers, pink foam rollers in her hair. I had to apologize to a girl in front of her class and because I made fun of her shoes my mom made use my birthday money to buy her two pair of the latest sneakers that had just come out. See, we weren't allowed to talk about people in our house, especially the less fortunate and my mom overheard me talking to my friends outside because our car was gone so I assumed she wasn't home. Big mistake and I never did that again, I'm 35 now! | |

| I really enjoyed this episode because of the way Nels finally stands up to Harriet and Nellie, and finally punished Nellie for being such a monster. Of course he did this in a handful of other episodes, but not as strongly as he did in this one. I only wish Nellie had learned from her mistakes. | |
