Oh, I am looooooovvvviiiinnnnggg the drop in temperatures! The long hot summer is saying goodbye and the 80s have arrived and soon the 70s will knock on our doors! but.... snow ... already?! lol
Here is part of a special weather msg around my area
WHILE THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL NOT HAVE MUCH MOISTURE WITH IT...THERE WILL BE ENOUGH FOR SOME SCATTERED LIGHT PRECIPITATION IN THE SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA NEAR YOSEMITE THIS AFTERNOON...THEN SPREADING SOUTH INTO THE TULARE COUNTY MOUNTAINS TONIGHT. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ALSO WILL BE POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY THIS EVENING. SOME LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF AN INCH OR TWO COULD OCCUR OVER THE HIGHER PEAKS AND ALONG THE CREST...HOWEVER THESE AMOUNTS WILL BE RATHER SPOTTY. IN GENERAL THE SNOW LEVEL WILL BE AT OR ABOVE 10 THOUSAND FEET...BUT MAY LOWER TO 8 OR 9 THOUSAND FEET TOWARD DAYBREAK THURSDAY.

Wow, Carol! I never thought that the season's first mention of snow would come from you!
It's very pleasant here. We never got above 55 today.

It still feels like summer around here It was a record breaking 100 degrees in San Diego, CA yesterday... no, that is not normal lol We have been having high abnormal temps too. We have been in the 80s but I have to admit, I am enjoying the extra warmth we are getting! That is all about to change this weekend though. I don't mind so much, we are in Autumn after all and the colorful trees will match the cold temperatures soon enough as you can see from the extended forecast!

It snowed here today!! Our first flurries of the season! Nothing to 'speak of', but the little flakes were in the air! It's coming.

I have to laugh at the upcoming "cold temperatures", Carol. Our high for today was 38. BUT, with you having just had such a record high, your upcoming cooler temperatures really WILL feel cold!

Um yeah....I could certainly go for a 70 degree day right about now! I guess it's supposed to warm up next week though---back to the 60's. But see, it's always this 'up/down' stuff that ends up making me sick!

We're seeing snowflakes that remind me of the ones that are on the prairie here. They're just gently fluttering down, and look incredibly beautiful....but they aren't adding up to much right now.

It isn't too awful here. It's 22 with a windchill of 16, which is probably a heat wave compared to your area, Teresa! Hot chocolate?

Well I can sum up the weather for the last couple of days with one word: RAIN!
It sure has been raining here. Yesterday, they closed a street from my block due to flooding but it is better today. Our parks look like rivers though! lol Here are some pics I took today.

One word for the weather here in my area: FOG
Here is a condensed article in today's paper about it:
It's cozy. It's like a favorite blanket. It's intimate. People cling to each other in the fog. You get an entirely different perspective when you can see only 30 feet. The fog is peaceful. It's quieting. It inspires contemplation. It stimulates the imagination.
When walking in the fog, you can imagine you're Sam Spade or Sherlock Holmes. One colleague said he looked out the other night and thought he was in the London of Jack the Ripper. Take a deep breath and bathe your lungs in nature's Vapo-Rub. A walk in the fog is a journey through a mystery, where every step brings a new revelation and it takes several seconds to recognize the obvious.
The fog will probably be with us a few days. Tule (pronounced Toolee) fog has served the area well. It cools the Valley and provides moisture for its desiccated plants. It keeps the Valley from freezing. It bathes and irrigates our trees. The steady, damp chill helps citrus and other fruit ripen and sweeten. ***********
Here is a video of fog rolling in to the valley:
I am not sure that I love the fog so much. All week it has been foggy in the morning, sunny between 2pm and 4pm and then the fog starts to roll back in the valley around 5pm. I don't like driving in it, and too much of it can be depressing... BUT there are also times when it does look mystical. I have gone by myself sometimes to take pictures of the trees in fog. It feels like you are alone in the world because well, you can't really see that far anyway and see anything lol, but it's a peaceful calming feeling and the only sound are my footsteps and the camera.
Here is what the fog looks like from above:
... and on the ground
Looks like a scene from Sleepy Hollow, I expect a black horse to appear any moment... lol
I took this picture when my cousins and I were up at Sequoia Park, at the top of the mountain, we could see the fog in the valley below. The scenery from above was beautiful but the car ride down the mountain not so much lol, fog got pretty thick... good thing we got home before it got really dark.

We're at 27 degrees. That's above zero, everyone, not below. Woo hoo! However, it's supposed to get cold again on Sunday.
