| Thank you all so much. We are going to have a little memorial service for her later. We want to release some yellow balloons (Kelsey says yellow is Padre's favorite color), and bury one of her favorite toys. We didn't bring her body home to bury because she looked so bad. Her skin and ears and turned a yellow-greenish color, I guess from the liver problem. So, we thought it best for the kids to remember her as she was.
Rob, that was such a beautiful poem! I'm still mopping up the tears, but they are good tears. That was very comforting. Thank you so much for posting it.

| Pam, I am so sorry for your loss. Padre was a very lucky cat to have such a loving family. You and your family will be in my prayers. | |

| Thank you, Lily. The note says, "Padre's Place Prrrrrr." *LOL* Kelsey was always making little beds for her. Oh, and that's her own little cup of coffee by her. She was a coffeeaholic. If you left your cup unattended, guess whose head was in it? | |

Thanks, Jacob. We made a deal with the kids, that if they help with the spring cleaning, then we will get them a kitten. They've never had the experience of having a kitten, since Padre was already grown when they were born, so I think that will be a nice experience for them. Not to mention one way to get them to help with some work around here!! :haha: Another cat won't replace Padre, but would help fill some of the emptiness we feel. Plus, I couldn't imagine not having a cat around. So, it'll be awhile, but eventually our house will be filled with little "meows" again.

| I'm so glad, Pam. It's obvious that you have a very loving home - Some little kitten is going to be very blessed when it gets to be adopted into your family. | |

Thank you so much, Savannah, that was so sweet to say. I think we will be just as blessed to have a new bundle of fur to love and spoil. - Misti wrote:

Yes, they are very excited. They are willing to clean, so that should tell you something. :haha:

No, I never have thought of getting a rabbit as a pet. That are awfully cute though!!
We have tons of wild rabbits roaming through our neighborhood. But they don't like people!

| Aww, that is sad that there are so many cats there without homes. We had a family of cats in our old neighborhood that were like that. They weren't used to people, so they weren't very friendly. | |

| Oh Pam, I'm so sorry I haven't been here to share my condolences. I am so very sorry about Padre. I'm sure it's been a very sad time in your household. I think the kitten is a great idea! Everyone told us to wait longer after our 11 year old Shepard died, but we got a puppy two months after his death and it was the best thing for the kids (especially my older son, who was most attached), to have that re-focus. Actually it was the best thing for all of us! (((( HUGS)))) Pam! “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

| Thanks, Amy. I think the hardest part was just not being able to hold her one last time, or even see her to say good-bye. We dropped her off Thursday at the vet, and thought that she'd be coming home on Saturday, but we never did see her again. So, I think maybe another kitten to hold and cuddle will help with that emptiness some. But Padre sure did live a long and healthy life, so I am very grateful for that. | |

| *LOL* No, I haven't thought of one yet.
I made it to the "complete" level at the forum we had before this one too, but couldn't think of anything back then, so I thought I'd just start over here and maybe by the time I made it to being able to receive a custom rank here, I'd have something figured out. It didn't work out that way though. :haha:

Vanesa. Yes, we are very much a cat family. Even Tim (my husband), who was never very much of a cat person, was very upset about losing Padre. He was actually the one who suggested getting a kitten. - ChristinaAL wrote:
