WAYCROSS, Georgia - Police say a group of 8- and 9-year-old students plotted to attack their teacher, bringing a broken steak knife, handcuffs, duct tape and other items for the job and assigning children tasks including covering the windows and cleaning up afterward.

The plot by as many as nine boys and girls at Center Elementary School in south Georgia was a serious threat, Waycross Police Chief Tony Tanner said Tuesday.

"We did not hear anybody say they intended to kill her, but could they have accidentally killed her? Absolutely," Tanner said. "We feel like if they weren't interrupted, there would have been an attempt. Would they have been successful? We don't know."

I heard about this on the news. They were upset with the teacher because she reprimanded one of them for standing on a chair. How sad that they thought about do something like this just for a reprimand.

That's an incredibly sad situation. At that age, those children shouldn't even be aware of that kind of violent attitude. But that's the kind of world we live in.

We never would have thought of such a thing in the third grade.

What is also scary about this is how they had everything planned out,
who would do what, etc., and things they had brought to carry out their plan.

This is awful! Children must think that a teacher has the right to reprimand them. And if they have some trouble with him/her, they must discuss the matter in a civilizated way and never, in ANY case to agress the teacher or any other older person.

Two days ago, in my country, a twelve years old boy, punched her teacher again and again until he injured her badly. The teacher has discovered him taking drugs and he was angry for having being scolded. And the child's mother supported her son! That's unbearable! mad

I googled Waycross, Georgia just to see how big it was and what it looked like.
It doesn't look like a real big place, but it's nice. Bad things happen in nice places,
too unfortunately. Still, just unbelieveable for anyone to do something
like that, let alone third graders.
