| Cheryl wrote: Charles and Almanzo have many wonderful scenes together in this episode. I especially enjoy when Almanzo and Charles are about to go off to fix the barn door and Almanzo says, "Let's go Pop", to which Charles replies, "Follow me son." A far cry from their relationship at the beginning, where Charles punched the daylights out of Almanzo for possibly kissing his young daughter. Watching Charles's feelings toward Almanzo change is one of the best parts of the series for me.I couldn't agree with you more...I'm not as big a fan as you are, but I really do enjoy that aspect of the series too Cheryl. I love the part of that Christmas episode too, where they walk together to the barn. I may just have to watch that tomorrow! “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

| I'm sure it was nice for Charles to become close to Almonzo. He seemed to respect him as a hard worker in the beginning, then things changed as he knew Almonzo had his eye on Laura. At this point he was really enjoying having another male to talk about daily issues. He enjoyed the healthy "competition" they shared too. In seeing this I know Laura was glad to have both of "her men" on the same ground....finally. It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. | Thanks Amy and Gin. I think this is why I find it so easy to write Laura and Almanzo stories. There is just so much storyline there that couldn't be explored on TV. Between Charles having to deal with Half-pint growing up, Laura pining away for Almanzo, Almanzo's feelings for Laura changing, Charles having to deal with Almanzo become more important in Laura's life, and then having Almanzo become family, there is so much to write about. | |

| Enjoyed your blog Cheryl. When I think of Laura's birth, life experiences good and bad I'm thankful she wasn't like many of the pioneer children that didn't make it on the prairie during those difficult times. She certainly had a mission she wasn't even aware of and has left wonderful footprints to step into. I'm thankful she was eager to share her life, because that makes it okay that we didn't meet her in person. We know her best through her own words. That is a legacy to treasure. It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. Not a lack of churches or religious forms but of the real thing in our hearts. LIW.....Words From a Fearless Heart | |

| Hmmmm, Cheryl! What a great interview! Rev. Jim seems to be a really interesting person, and he was quite original when he had the very idea of opening "Laura's sweet memories" . I wish I could visit there just to taste one of those wonderful treats. I also have a sweet toth and I'm very fond of old recipes. Too sad he didn't sell anything online. It could be good for the States, but I live pretty far from mansfield, Missoury and never will taste one of these "sweet memories" Thanks for the interview, Cheryl. I liked a lot Rev. Jim's pic with our old Doc. Baker. Vanesa. | |
