| Well, I should have been interested in the show all the same. I DO like Albert's character, but if I wouldn't known him by the show, I don't think I should have introduced another kid to it just to cover the place that Mary left. I think that Laura should have developped her sisterly relationship with Carrie, like it could be read in the books. Vanesa. | |

| I like Albert, but adding him to the Ingalls family strays so far from the books that I wish in a way they did not do that. I wish that maybe someone else in Walnut Grove had adopted him (after the Ingalls took him back with them) and he could have been a part of the show, but just not part of the Ingalls family. And then when they added James and Cassandra, I felt that was really taking it too far. I, too, wish that they had developed Carrie and Grace. They could eventually have been like the new Mary and Laura if the writers had chosen to go in that direction. | |

| Yes. I DO like Albert, but if I was a LHOTP writer, I shouldn't have added him to the show. I accept some "fictionnal liberties" like adding certain people that didn't exist to Walnut Grove Ingalls friends, but I think that adding adopted siblings to Laura is not a good thing to do. The real Ingalls family had never and Albert, nor a James or Cassandra. That's bothers me a little, I must said. Other thing that bothered me a lot was they named the city were they went to live after Mary's blindness, Winoka, Dakota Territory when we know that they went to live in a city and DID worked in a hotel, but the city is named Burr Oak anhd is placed in Iowa...(and they lived there BEFORE Mary's serious stroke). But there WAS an Albert in Laura's childhood. And he lived in Walnut Grove, indeed. He was one f her best friends and was named Albert Moses. He was the son of one of the Ministers of the town. I kind of wonder why they didn't use Burr Oak either. It would have made sense since Mary went to school in Iowa. Granted, the timeline would still be messed up, but they could have had Mr. Nash move on to start the new school in Winoka and left Mary and Adam in Iowa to teach at the school they were in. Then Charles and Caroline could have moved to Iowa too. | |

| This episode is a great introduction for Albert... If you have look in the scenes where the Ingalls are traveling TO Winoka- There's one scene they use from the pilot movie where Jack is following the wagon!! Ha I guess Mike thought it didn't matter too much. | |

| I like how Albert and Laura flirt with each other when they first meet and quickly become friends. Little did they know at the time that they would later become close as brother and sister. | |

- I can't say I entirely disagree with you, but I did enjoy Albert. Albert gave Laura a partner in crime that had even funnier antics than Laura and Andy, though they did it by sacrificing any relationship Laura could have had with her sister Carrie.
I wish the additional children had stopped with Albert. I didn't want to see the Cooper children as part of the Ingalls family and I had no interest in Jenny Wilder either. I agree................I was ok with Albert.....did not care for the Cooper children or Jenny “I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.” ― Laura Ingalls Wilder

Of all their funny conversations, I thought this one really wasn't. She really seemed to mean it! I only liked the Albert part of Winoka, was glad when they left although it gave the writers more to work with. I know Charles had to leave, because the show was ending, Mr.Landon, Karen were gone in a sense, but I never liked that Charles went back to the city at the end of the series. He was abused there working in the store, he mentioned Caroline still had to work when he came back in "Home Again" and his children were going to different schools, one in trouble, etc. What was different from their time in Winoka? Charles always farmed and worked at the mill, if Caroline stayed at the restaurant, it would have been better but again, the original show had to end. I don't know how I would have done it, if they had to leave Walnut Grove, but it seemed so odd to see Charles selling hats later on.

Yes...I saw that too. I don't think that moing them to Burr Oak was an intelligent thing from the writers...It was not an evolution in Charles life, but an involution... Vanesa.

| For a street urchin living by his wits in the big city, Albert was remarkably clean. It always appeared as though he had recently bathed and washed his hair. His teeth were white as pearls and his clothes were always neat & tidy. Incredible hygiene for a shoeshine boy who took up residence in the dirt under a porch.
I was not a huge fan of the Winoka epis. Too much of a departure from the real story and the story lines established in the first few seasons of the show. Old Daniel Tucker wuz a mighty man, He washed his face in a fryin' pan; Combed his head wid a wagon wheel And he died wid de toofache in his heel.

| And as mentioned before, they always made everyone so "evil-like" living in the city, if you weren't a farmer, you had no morals or standards. There were always a token few good people but it was a bit lopsided. I guess they found some more later, because they settled there and the kids found friends as Charles said (and not those into drugs as poor Albert had to face) | |

So much more story ideas around the students I think. The Winoka episodes are okay, if mainly because the change of scene allowed some different types of stories to play out around life in the "bigger" city.

| I'm not a fan of the Winoka episodes, but is it only a few episodes??? I guess I was thinking it was at least a whole season. I also think it is very out of character for these people from Walnut Grove to suddenly be fine with working in a saloon, especially Mrs. Oleson. In the episode where she drank Dr. Logan's tonic and got drunk, Nels said something about her being the head of the temperance movement (or whatever it was called). Yes, I know they needed money, but still I think that Mrs. Oleson should have gotten a job selling fashionable clothes or something rather than trying to be a saloon girl! I don't think Alice Garvey would be thrilled with her husband being a bouncer for the saloon either. To me, the whole idea of all three families from Walnut Grove moving to the same city is also a bit hokey.
I do like Albert, but I also kind of don't like how they added all these kids into the Ingalls family, especially since at least that family, up until they started adopting the kids, was sticking somewhat to historical fact in terms of family members. I also wish they had done more with the Carrie character and I always feel like Cassandra gets way more screen time than Carrie which seems sad to me.
Probably what I do like most about the Winoka episodes is the love story of Adam and Mary! Yes, I know that was not really a part of Mary's life, so maybe I should not like the addition of Adam either......but I do! And I'm happy for Mary.
