Do you have a copy of Farmer Boy, Jacob? Almanzo grew a huge, prize winning pumpkin. Thumbsup Between the site Rhonda posted, and Almanzo's "advice" you should be good to go!

Almanzo grew that pumpkin on milk. I guess it works, though that could get expensive these days.

Pumpkins need a long growing season, Jacob, so it might be hard to grow a really big one as far north as you are. My only advice is to start feeding the plant Miracle-Gro as soon as the first small pumpkin appears.

I actually have a children's book about 2 mice that were taking care of the same pumpkin to enter into the County Fair.....neither one of them knew the other was working on it; one took care of it during the day and the other at night, and it got HUGE!!! They had taken a string, poked the end into the pumpkin and took the other end and put it in a bowl of sugar water.......when it would get low, they would fill it back up.....anyway....they had the BIGGEST pumpkin at the fair and shared the blue ribbon............. grinsmiley

It should tell the right mixture on the box. I think it's one heaping spoonful in a gallon of water. The measuring spoon will come in the box of Miracle-Gro. I would feed the plant maybe once a week or so.

I don't know how to grow a pumpkin, Jacob, but I can help you eat it once it turns into a pie. :shifty:

I love pumpkin pie, too! I don't put as much spice in mine as most people do though.

Thumbsup

My family uses less spice, too, Holly. Otherwise it almost feels like the spices reach out and smack you. Laughing
