| That has often been said about Lindsey and Sidney, and it may have been true. When you think of the roles that both Melissa's played that just makes you question if the twins could have done as good a job.
What I think would have been funny is if Nellie and Laura's daughters had been in school together. Not rivials but actual friends and both as sneaky as snakes! Hmmmm, Cheryl.....we need a fan fiction please!! It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. Not a lack of churches or religious forms but of the real thing in our hearts. I didn’t mean to spark the “could they act” debate, I was merely pointing out the lack of development in Carrie’s character was part of the reason Albert’s character was important. Sorry if it seemed that way. - Gin wrote:

And why wouldn’t you write such a fan fiction story, my friend? You’re talented with the pen too. This would mean that at some point after the destruction of Walnut Grove, Laura and Almanzo moved to New York or Nellie, Percival and the twins to Burr Oak, IA. I’m not sure which I think would be least likely; though I guess maybe the girls could have met up in Louisiana when Rose stayed with Eliza Jane.

| Good idea! I wish I could read a good story about Rose and Nellie's daughter being friends. It sounds really good for a spin-off story. Vanesa. | |

| Yes, they definitely would have had to replace them, but I don't it would have hurt the show if they did. | |

| Although this conversation is getting really off topic, lol, I would just like to add that I would probably would not be a big fan of the show if it wasn't for the addition of Albert. Not only did he bring very relatable storylines to the show, but Matt is also one of the best actors I've seen onscreen.
Of course, I have to agree that this episode was a particularly lame episode. I remember the time I knew what happiness was...let the memory live again.

Rose must have been something Gin if she could make Nancy look good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get what your saying. If they would have changed the actress fans wouldn't of taken a liking to that? “Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it... Yet.” ― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

So, you're right, no basketball yet because it was supposedly 1889 at the start of Season 9 when the Ingalls family left town (I'm trying to remember the date from Laura's narrative in "Times Are Changing" and I think that's the year).
Leslie Barton is the girl's name and I can't say that I really liked this episode either. This is just one of several episodes that focuses on Albert's inability to find love. While it's probably realistic of this day and age, I don't know that I feel it was time period appropriate for Albert to fall in love with so many girls and have it not result in marriage. And even if it were appropriate for that time period, I don't think I would have missed anything if they never showed this episode. If Carrie's famous line is, "I have to go to the outhouse," then Albert's should be "But Pa, I love her." At the beginning of Times Are Changing, Laura narrirated that it was the Spring of 1887.

| I like Albert. Don't care much for the Carter boys. The show should have been canceled after the 8th season. | |

| Yes...It seems that they couldn't act....And the proof is that they didn't appear in any show after LHOTP. They were choosen for they were twins and they needed twins to make them play in alternance , since they were too young to work ful time. That was the same reason they were choosen to play in "Sunshine". Vanesa. | |

| I thought this show was a bit much with the "love" parts..you can fall in love in a sense with the pen, but it seemed a bit overboard. That said, I probably forgot how those crush's were, like heat rashes at that age, I thought it would end with him talking to her about it, but I liked the pen pal angle and that she wrote him again. I always wanted one at that age and it it's easy to slip into stories that get a bit stretched. I think Albert brought a lot to the show because Mary was off primarily, Laura as she aged, was more pigeon-holed in her role and he could do a lot more that wasn't in the books. It gave Charles more to do also and they had many great dramatic scenes. It wasn't meant to be, but I wish everyone could have stayed, Mary and Adam and the school, Nellie and Percival and Albert, maybe after med school. The talent, comedy and rapport were great.

| Speaking of Albert's facial expressions...I have to ask, ladies...how many of you absolutely used to melt whenever Albert smiled? A better question: how many still do? I know I still do! "smiling Matt" gets to me every time! Those dimples! Be still my heart... As for this episode, I actually really liked this episode. The part where Albert thought Leslie was avoiding him because she really didn't like him (or so he thought) was heartbreaking. When he finally sees her and realizes why, he was so sweet to her. I thought this episode was very well written. | |
