*squeal!!* I LOVE Jane Austen! Pride & Prejudice is probably my favorite.....although, Persuasion is excellent . . . .and so is Emma..... Her work is so fabulous. It feels like she draws you completely in, and it isn't just a novel anymore. It feels like you're right there IN the stories. She wrote

Sense & Sensibility (1811)
Pride & Prejudice (1813)
Mansfield Park (1814)
Emma (1815)

Persuasion (1817 - published after she died)
and
Northanger Abbey (also published after she died)

It may take a little while to get into the swing of the language, because it was written so long ago. But the wit, and the humor......absolutely delightful.

For instance:

“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. However little known the feelings or views of such a man may be on his first entering a neighbourhood, this truth is so well fixed in the minds of the surrounding families, that he is considered as the rightful property of some one or other of their daughters.”

I love that passage. :Hahaha: It may have been written in England, but it could be small-town-anywhere.

So do I, Jacob. I've travelled all over the world.......through the universe, and across time - all without leaving the house. Sometimes, even when I had the flu! grinsmiley I absolutely love to read.

I did have to read plays and stuff for when I was in school. When I was young I would buy all these books and never read them, lol.

I didn't even see this post until just now, and it's been here since Saturday??

Krissy, I LOVE Jane Austen's books - and the movies that are based on her books are just WONDERFUL. Pride & Prejudice is one of the rare miniseries/movies that I thought was every bit as good as the book. Thumbsup
