| i probably wont see it. it looks a little demonic for me. no offense to anyone who watches it. its just my opinion. Heath Ledger spent like a month by himself preparing for his part in this movie. He committed suicide by a drug overdose. | |

| I saw the movie and it was not what I expected. The actor who plays Batman does not do a good job at playing Batman... what the heck is wrong with his voice when he is dressed as Batman??? That 'loud whisper' voice annoys the HECK out of me! lol Why can't he just talk w/ a normal deep voice like the other actors who played Batman before him? I thought Heath Ledger did such a great job w/ that role... I could not imagine a better Joker, he was really creepy, crazy and psychotic..... As for the plot of the movie, I don't like how they make Batman look... :sad5: 8 stars out of 10 for me.... 8 because of Heath or else it would have been 7 | |

| Carol, my son saw the movie and he said the same thing about Christian Bale...he and his friends all couldn't stand the Batman voice. Other than that, he loved the movie. I actually thought I would be annoyed by Heath's voice judging from the previews, but everyone seems to think he's incredible in it. Misti, don't you just hate it when people play around with their cell phones during a movie?! That drives me nuts too!!! “Not all of us can do great things. | Oh wow. The boys and I just came home from the movie. The theater was still fairly full, and look how many weeks we are in!! And it's a THURSDAY night! Well, it was everything and more than I expected. I honestly really liked it a LOT. Heath is not being 'idolized' here for this role---it truly is Oscar material. He was amAzing. If anyone hasn't seen it, nothing too spoiley here but you might not want to read ahead: Carol, I know what you're saying about Batman---it was weird how he was depicted, but I guess they wanted to show his 'human' side...I think they wanted to show that he was flawed, not a hero in the 'normal' sense. Also, they actually wanted to show that Dent was considerably more likeable than Batman, in the beginning anyway. I do think he's the best Batman to date though. The voice...hmm...I guess it grew on me after awhile, but it was a tad strange! But I think it was good that they changed it when he changed into Batman---I always thought it was weird that Spiderman had the same voice when he changed into Spidey---Tobey Macquire has a very distinguishable voice and you just think, NO ONE can tell it's Peter Parker?! Um, okkkkkaaaayyy. Aaron Eckart was fabulous too! I've seen him before (The Core) and thought he was good in that too, but I actually liked him better than Christian Bale in this! I even liked Maggie Gylenhall, and I'm not a fan! I like the scene where she is interrogating that bank guy. Nicely done. Oh, and then there's the 'quiet' performances of Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine. Phenomenal!!! As far as the length goes, I would have thought it was long if they hadn't done a good job at filling the time, but in this case I really thought they did. I like long movies anyway---they make me feel like I got my money's worth! (Oh, the one thing I didn't like----I thought Dent's face as two-face was almost identical to "The Mummy's" face, at least the half of it ---seriously, I've seen two of the Mummy's now (which I love) and it looked like they totally stole it. ). “Not all of us can do great things. | Wow its still full! We haven't gone to see it yet. I totally love Heath and was sad when he died. Which is part of why I am not sure if I want to see it yet. I know that sounds totally crazy from someone my age. LOL I have never really been a huge Batman fan but a DC comics fan (Wonder Woman is from it and you gotta love her). I know my husband pointed out that this is suppose to be so not like the typical comic books..unlike past Batman movies. Which is fine. I really didn't care for the other ones cause they always seem to cast someone in them I didn't like in certain roles. I know we were just talking about a "date" night at the movies soon cause its been forever since we have. This is what we probably would end up seeing but maybe it might have to be put off if its that packed still. |

| You're right Anna, this isn't a thing like the past Batmans....maybe the very last one though, but much better. I never saw Batman Begins (you don't have to see it to understand this one) but my boys said this was much better. I'm not a comic fan either, but I really enjoyed the Spiderman movies, and now this one. “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

| Yeah, I have to say that the past "Batmans" (the ones I saw) didn't impress me much. This one was so good and I agree, Amy, powerful, powerful performances.
I also agree about Batman's voice. It has always irritated me when they have the superheros that speak in their normal voices and I'm like, Duh? Case in point, the old "Batman" series; the original "Superman." I like how they did this.
Heath, I agree, he needs to be nominated for this one. He was so beyond excellent. I read on IMDB and here are a few interesting facts. If you haven't see it, then stop here:
*The scene with Heath in the jail cell and the promotion of Chief Gordon was announced and everyone was clapping, the Joker wasn't one of them. Heath totally improvised that scene.
*Maggie G., who played Batman's love interest is the sister of Jake G., who played opposite Heath in "Brokeback Mountain."
*In fact, Jake is the godfather of Heath and Michelle's daughter.
*Jake hasn't seen "Batman" yet; he said he will but right now, the death of Heath makes it too hard to view it.
*When Joker is walking away from the hospital in his nurse's uniform, before when it showed him closeup, his nametag said, "Matilda" which is the name of Heath's daughter. "I would fight for you - I'd lie for you - walk the wire for you - ya I'd die for you..." | |

| Thanks for those. I know I knew about the daughter and Jake being the godfather and Maggie his sister as well. I have read that he has had a very hard time dealing with Heath's death. They stopped filming the movie he was working on at the time cause he was so upset over it until he was ok to do it. So I'm not surprised he can't see it. I haven't seen it but neat about the name tag. |

I knew about Jake too, but didn't know that he stopped filming his movie! Wow. That is so neat that they became best friends after the making of Brokeback (there is a video of them on Oprah together on Youtube, that is just amazing), and I can see why Jake is suffering so. Interesting about the nametag, Misti! I THOUGHT that from a distance the name looked much longer than "Dent"!! That is neat. You know what I thought was weird, is that his dad and stepmom were at the premiere. Why wouldn't they have given them a private showing? Doesn't that seem like the right thing to do? I mean, can you not imagine bawling if you were an immediate family member?! “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
