On Sunday night, out at the campground where my family camps, there's a man who's son cares for injured eagles, owls, hawks, etc........Well, his son offered to come and give a short lecture and let us see the birds he's caring for. I posted one picture in Carol's thread about interesting things in our own areas.....But I thought I'd show you all a couple more of the pictures.
We saw a Great Horned Owl, which was quite a beautiful bird. He was always on the alert, and kept an eye on every movement in the crowd. Quite a beautiful fella!
Then he brought out the Bald Eagle. :faint2: What a magnificent creature!
One thing that made me laugh is that the eagle prefers to eat road kill. :Hahaha: :gross:
Seeing an eagle that close was such a treat! I'd have loved to have been able to record the collective gasp that was heard when she was brought out!

One more photo.....This one shows the thick glove he has to wear to have the owl sitting on his arm. It was getting darker, so I couldn't get a good shot of the glove he wore with the eagle. That was MUCH thicker.

Nice pictures. We have a lot of hawks around here and they just love those chipmunks.

Well, I was fifteen feet away - Nobody could go any closer. (But it was a LOT closer than I'd ever been to one before!) I used a zoom on the one picture of the eagle. One of the ladies asked if she could pet the eagle! The man told her "No, she'd tear your hand off, and I'd feel pretty bad about that". :Hahaha:
