The things a kitten has to do.....

I had posted this before the board went bonkers, but it was eaten by cyberspace. So.......


Saturday night, after I got home, I was trying to finish the Christmas trio for the piano. (Six hands on one piano) I had just a few measures to go, but they were particularly stubborn measures. So, I was trying to concentrate, when Opie came running in, and hopped up on my lap. Then he ran across the keyboard. . . . Then he rubbed his face against mine....So, I stopped working, and played with him for a few minutes, figuring that he wanted some attention. Then, I tried to scoot him away, to get back to work. But he was insistent. Finally, I gave him a gentle push and told him to go find a toy to play with for a while. He hopped down, with a loud, huffy sigh, and pranced out of the room. I figured he'd go play with our other cat, Thomas, for a while. . . . . or pick on our dog . . . . . But just a couple of minutes later . . . . Back he was again! And this time, he was carrying something in his mouth. He hopped up on my lap, and rather dramatically PLOPPED a ziplock baggie on my computer keyboard, then looked up at me. So, I picked up the bag, and saw what Opie had dropped on my lap . . . . His SUPPER. :Hahaha: (I always measure out his food, and put it in a baggie to make it easier for feeding time, later in the day) Apparently, he remembered where I put the bag, and decided that it was time to take things into his own hands paws, when supper time came and went, and he was still waiting! :Hahaha: Poor baby. The things a kitten has to do to get his supper!

Wow, what a smart kitty. My dog Hosanna does the same thing when her bowl is empty. She carries it in her mouth and comes to find someone to fill it.

I swear, Savannah, Opie is half human. LOL!!

That's funny! Just a subtle reminder that somebody needs to get her priorities straight, eh?

You have to wonder what goes through our pets' minds when they see us doing something that, to them, must seem like a complete mystery. Like playing the piano. :scratch:

On Sunday mornings when I was a kid, everybody in my family would grab a section of the newspaper and read. I remember wondering what our collie thought about that. Suddenly all of her people would sit there quietly for half an hour, holding these big white sheets of paper in front of their faces.

Pets are smart. What my dog Rocky will do is... he barks for me to get out to the yard... when he sees me, he barks and then goes and sits right in front of his empty bowl and looks at me..... *hint hint* LOL

LOL! Now that is an intelligent cat!! And to think that some people say that animals can't think. Those skeptics need to meet Opie! :haha:

Too funny! I've never really thought about that but you're so right! And Rob, we had the same Sunday morning ritual growing up----where others went out to breakfast after church, we came home and read the paper! I always got the comics section....a child of substance, I was.

Savannah, Opie is a riot! I'm sure you were about ready to fling him off the piano at that point! (Not that I think you'd ever actually hurt poor Opie ), but man---that cat!!

I think Opie has earned the right to be called our "Prairie Mascot".

Opie is intrigued by both the computer and the piano. He puts his paws on them, and moves them around, like he's trying to figure out what the "big people" find so fascinating about it. But, I never thought about how reading a newspaper must look to a dog or a cat. (Or a bird. "Gee it's nice of them to inspect that so carefully before they put it in my cage!" )

Opie, is so funny, and smart. If our cat is out of food, he will follow us around, till we get him some. It's like he stalks us. :unsure:

Ah, the comics. You know, for the longest time, my niece and nephews and I would read the "funnies" together........Now, with circumstances what they are, they haven't been able to read them for ages. A few weeks ago, it finally occurred to me to send the comics to the children. So, when I write them each week, along with their letters, they get the Sunday Comics. [/color]

Aw, what a fantastic idea, Savannah! Send some silly putty with the comics next time---I loved taking the putty and pressing it onto the comic pictures, transferring the images. Can you tell it didn't take much to entertain me as a kid?
