I usually make ours in the crockpot. It's a nice way to have a good meal without having to rush around to make something at the most hectic time of the day for me.
I brown the roast on both sides, on the stove, before I cook it. Then I season the roast with some worcestershire sauce, Italian dressing, salt and pepper. I put some water in the bottom of the crockpot (you don't need a lot), then I put some peeled and cut potatoes and carrots around the roast, and some sliced onions on top of the roast. Then I cook it on medium for around 6 hours.
To make it in the oven, I season it the same way, and put it in a roasting pan, again with some water on the bottom, and let it cook for around 2 - 2 1/2 hours in a 350 degree oven, I put in the vegetables about and hour before it's done.
